It's spot on. I really don't see how Sonnen can win this one unless it goes to decision.

I hope TRT gets talked about a lot more in the months leading up to the fight.

Forrest Griffin will meet Phil Davis at UFC 155 on Dec. 29, according to @ufc_brasil.

Not an intriguing match up for me...especially for a co-main event.

I'm fine with the fight. I think they want to build Davis back up into contender status and this will help.

Probably also means Glover v Rampage will be a go.

It's fine as a co-main, plus that card is pretty deep anyways so who cares what order the fights are in.

Could be a good test for Davis. Don't think he'll be able to take Forrest down easily and control like he has for most of his wins.

Crap matchmaking. This will be Forrests last fight in all likelihood and they are throwing him to the wolves.

If Forrest isn't going to be getting back on track for a title shot, give him exciting fights.

Before Davis was gifted the fight against Rashad, this is the type of fight he should have had.

Why? Seems like a logical progression to me.

I don't see it that way. Nog had just lost via the fashion everyone expected Davis to beat Nog by. It wasn't a test in any way for him. Throwing him in with a much superior fighter didn't make a whole lot of sense to me. This is much different as I don't think he'll walk his way through taking Forrest to the ground.

Davis' takedowns were ineffective against Nog and he won that fight standing if I recall correctly, so I'm not sure why you would think that.

Just the first round. The other two he laid on top of him.

I think you're misremembering that fight.

I just rewatched the fight and the answer is somewhere in between. First round was on the feet, second round had 3 minutes standing and 2 on the ground, third round was 3:30 on the ground. So about 5 or 6 minutes on the floor. Davis struggled with takedowns early and then it looked like Nog just wore out.

Can't say a Davis vs. Griffin fight interests me very much.

I think it could be a good match up. Forrest isn't particularly easy to take down or submit and his striking likely is better than Davis'. At the very least it will give us a clearer idea of where Davis is at right now.

I know MMA math doesn't work but an older, slower, and less explosive wrestler (Tito) was able to take Forrest down and pound on him a bit. I don't think Davis will struggle to take him down in this fight. But I also don't think it'll be an extremely easy fight for Davis, Forrest is far from a "can".

It seems like a logical fight to me also, Davis is still a very legit future contender who annihilated everyone he faced til he ran into a more experienced version of himself in Evans.

This is the same guy who derailed the mauler & the reason he started training in the states. He'll crush Forrest & then move his way up the packing order.
