According to JR, the injury that Russell suffered in Europe was misdiagnosed and is not nearly as severe as initially reported. He said he should be skating next week.

Steen is the best player I have seen in the MODO jersey since Peter Forsberg and the Sedin twins. A true warrior who can dominate both defensively and offensively. I knew he would be good, but never that he would dominate this much. Pure joy to witness!

One reason the lockout might work in the Blues favour if we only miss 20-30 games. Steen gaining a lot of confidence at centre in the SEL could result in him cementing himself as our "3rd line" centre.

The teams have already played twice this season, so their next meeting isn't until 26 December. The lockout will hopefully be long over by then.

Speaking of Stewart, he finally got his first goals yesterday, scoring twice and adding an assist as well.

That's a shame. That would have been a fun game.

Hopefully this will be one of the last few updates to this thread! Russell is going back to Turku and it sounds like Tarasenko will be playing against Jori Lehterä and Sibir tomorrow.

Steen got the second goal in a 3-2 loss today, and Berglund was again pointless in a 4-1 Västerås defeat. Seen about 1 period of Västerås, so no real idea of how he is playing, but the stats line isn't great considering it is the second Division. Although, I guess Kopitar does only have 10 points in 9 games in the same League, which probably highlights just how well Steen is doing in the better League.

Kris Russell off to a fast start on his return to TPS with a goal and an assist in the first period!

And Sobotka scores to put Slavia 2-1 up.

Anyone else worried about this? Only 8 points in 7 games playing in a second tier league whose first tier is more like third tier at best in comparison to other leagues? We're really scraping the bottom of the barrel in competition here, and he can only put up 3 goals and 8 points? He should be tearing it up singlehandedly at that level. Just isn't very encouraging.

Not concerned at all. He's there to stay in shape and it's always shortsighted IMO to judge how someone is playing just based on stats alone.

Keep in mind that Wayne Simmonds is playing on the same team and isn't doing better. Both are powerforward playing on bigger ice. I don't think that's a good mix.

I agree. Hockey is a TEAM game. Even a player that is two levels above the others may not dominate in statistics. That doesn't mean he is playing poorly. Teams having ONE very, very good player, may not dominate. It takes teamwork of at least 15-16 players on a team in a given game to win. Teams play differently with leads. They may control games and NOT score many more goals than their opponents. Teams whose playing units play well together, win. One player plays only 20-25 minutes out of 360 minutes played by all the team's players.

If Stewart had only scored 0-4 points in 8 games, I might be slightly worried that something is wrong with him, mentally or physically. But his having scored at a little more than a point a game pace, doesn't have me concerned. That's a good scoring pace in any organised league on any level.

Just checked and it's posted on Vitkovice's official site, and facebook pages. So that can't be a good indication. From a rough translation it sounds like there was a conflict between him and Tomas Filippi six minutes before the end of the game. Polak was lifted from the ice by his teammates and limped to the locker room. His ankle was apparently swollen and immediately iced. Coach says he has no idea when he'll be back.

Um, I'm just wondering what you are expecting from Stewart? He's getting over a PPG. Is he supposed to have 20 points and look like Gretzky or something to satisfy you? Let's calm down here.
