Anyone else thinking that the Express ownership is kicking themselves over not giving it a go for another year?

Why is that? The losses they suffered were a lot. Chicago has the Wolves.

I wonder how much Elmira's 2K a night brought this all dowm.

Orlando sold out their home opener tonight. Not sure if they opened up the upper bowl though.

They didn't. They had black curtains over the upper bowl.

But they did announce a crowd of 9,966.

Nope not at all...Another team in a watered down market. NHL fans this season probably wouldn't have gone to an ECHL game over a AHL game. Then on top of that you have a junior team.

If nobody shows up for good hockey like the ECHL they'll never show up. No matter when it is. To many options already.

Thats solid news, do you think the attendance will remain high?

I was shocked by how many people were wearing the OLD Solar Bears jerseys from 2001. So it seems there is a strong interest here.

One of the things about Orlando is that no one is from here. So you have lots of Northern hockey fans. We'll see tonight what an average week night entails.

I can't make tonight but look forward to returning soon.

5,339 tonight in Orlando -- pretty good showing for a school night against the World Series.

Went to that game last night, was a lot of fun and a surprisingly good crowd. The city seems to enjoy its more hockey more than I would have suspected but it's true, no one is from Orlando so it makes sense. It also helps that Orlando seems to have a pretty good team so far.

I've been to 2 regular season Ft Wayne Komet games this season. The Komets are in like their 62nd year of hockey, but this is first year with ECHL. Both games had over 7000 fans.
