Also a good point that if Hale finds a manager's job this winter, don't be surprised if Butterfield joins his buddy Showalter as 3B coach in Baltimore, his home town.
I was led to believe, by Nick Cafardo, that Butterfield is from New England? Maine IIRC.

Speaking of Cafardo, he just pretty much cited a sonnet about his love for Brad Ausmus and how he believed he was the next Robin Ventura (young manager who finds success right away). Quote; "If I was AA, I call Brad Ausmus and say you're my manager. I skip the interviews and everything, and just tell him he's my man." Sounds like a love story.

Why would Butter get the job? He's been around forever, but what has he accomplished here to suggest he'd be a good manager? It's an honest question

Yep, Bangor. My bad. Either Baltimore or Boston would make a reasonable destination if he does decide to move on from Toronto.

Interesting news about Alomar. Wonder what's behind that?

That was in response to Sandy saying he's going to be the manager in Cleveland, not Toronto.

Butterfield is loved by the players, media and other organizational staff. There is an argument, not specific to Butterfield, that replacing a coach/manager internally can be an issue if players who had previously used said assistant as a sounding board, now have to view him as the boss, and both sides find it difficult to adjust.

I think it's optics tbh.

Alomar has one year left on his contract, hes saying he intends to honor it, and work under Francona as bench coach. The Indians are searching for other members to fill out Franconas staff, Alomar has to solidify his spot for next year.

But the cards are on the table there, they passed him over for Francona (and who can blame them). He won't be managing the Indians any time soon barring another chicken and beer debacle.

Sandy would be foolish not to Interview again for the Job here. His name alone and the standing Robbie has with management and the fans would be enough to get him started off on the right foot if he was successful.

I think the new coach will be Brad Ausmus. Red sox would've hired Ausmus if not for Farrell being available, so AA hands them Farrell so he can get Ausmus before the redsox or another team grabs him.

If it is a rookie manager once again, for me it does not matter which one. They are all interchangeable to me. I have no idea if Sandy Alomar Jr. will be a better than Sal Fasano or vice versa, for example.
