David Krejci Says Bettman Treats Players Like Animals

He did an interview to the Czech media. This is hilarious especially since he never says anything like this.

Well, given many of us feel he's dogging it out there for at least part of the regular season, is it surprising this came to mind?

ha ha

These guys live in a fantasy land.

If they're treated like animals, I'd hate to know what he regular people are treated like.

Yup. This lockout is really disappointing me.

In other news, I can't wait until a native Czech speaker weighs in and it turns out google translate was wrong and that's not at all what he said.

Exactly.

For the most part, I have found pro hockey players to be very down to earth people when I have met them, but comments like that make you wonder how out of touch with reality some of these guys are. All this does is serve to further alienate the fans from the players IMO. If Fehr was smart, he would tell these guys to just keep their mouths shut.

I hope something got lost in translation? 15.5 million dollars certainly buys a lot of gold-plated dog collars, that's for sure.

I wonder how many "animals" have it in their contracts that they must stay in 5 star hotels?

Someone call the whambulance.

Krejci is coming off a three-year, $11.25 million contract and is set to start a three-year, $15.75 million deal.

Not bad for a 26-year-old animal.

What he should have just said was,

"Hi my name is David Krejci, and I know the players look rather silly and unprofessional after the way they presented their proposals last week. Now prepare to be further turned off..."

...

The rhetoric spewed by the PA during this mess is embarrassing.

Makes it difficult to wish to see both sides benefit from the CBA.

Please let the translation be faulty.

This is my hope as well.

Funny part is that I heard from a friend of a friend that Krejci's cat actually does make more than I do...

Everyone thinks that they have it so bad. Reminds me of one of my favorite quotes.

Shane Doan's "we have the game's best interest at heart" was a good one too. Or "give me your money AND we'll hurt you"

The PA should have put a muzzle on these guys.

I'm getting to the point where I'm finding AHL hockey more appealing.

I really can't fathom supporting a league that can't even get their **** together. All we're really doing is waiting for a deal to be made so that we can have another lockout in 6 years. The NHL and NHLPA have become a joke if you ask me.

I guess the leagues PR spin doctor was effective or is the backlash here because Krejci's still everyone's whipping boy?

The players are by no means innocent in all of this but it takes two to tango.

The fact that Krejci even said something is amusing considering he always tows the company line.

I didn't need a PR spin to see that the players aren't treated like 'animals'. Or any other garbage they keep spewing out.

I get it, they want more money, there's nothing wrong with that. But when you go around saying **** like these players have been it grows tiresome. Especially to people that have to go to work day in day out to make ends meet.

They need to just shut the **** up and get a deal done. I don't need a sob story about how hard done by these guys are.

Players were content to not negotiate before the current CBA expired and couldn't wait to trigger the escalators each season (don't blame them on that one).. What comes around goes around with these two parties...it's sickening.

No kidding, man.

And I'm sympathetic! But crap like this is just intolerable.

I understand that the PA has no interest in being bullied in these talks. And the league takes a very bullying approach to negotiations. I get all that. But if the end goal is getting the game back on the ice, then why is it such a god damn fight?? This **** doesn't help ANYTHING.

For some reason, argument is the only way Western society can problem-solve. And substance seems to matter less than appearance. I would say that now I'm tired of it, but I'm way past that point.
