Sure Matteau needs to settle down some, but he's sure as hell not getting pushed around if/when he makes it to the NHL. Quite possibly the opposite in fact, and it's awesome.
Seems like this is the third or fourth time I've seen Coleman with a charging major. Maybe we should start worrying about him, too. Like hearing about how physical he is though, especially now that he's scoring regularly.

Like someone said earlier, Pete DeBoer once said about Downie:
"I'd rather have to tame a tiger, then paint stripes on a *****cat."
That logic holds true to both Matteau and Coleman. You cannot teach that feisty style of play nor can you teach a player to be physical, you can however harness his physicality or aggressiveness.

Yeah, I thought I read a post that said the guy stayed down for awhile, but that certainly wasn't the case. Sprung right back up once he heard a fight going on next to his face.

From what I read on twitter and on Miami's forum it was a clean but hard open ice hit and wasn't close to a 5 min major or whatever it was.
I dont really care about the coach, Im talking about the league. He got thrown out for that ??? And then suspended ??? Thats terrible I saw the play quite clearly. If the other guy didnt try to draw a penalty from a shove, it wouldnt of looked dangerous . Bad call all around
I would take the decision of the organization he was on over what we think watching a replay from the nosebleeds.
Not sure why anyone is shocked or upset, this is exactly who they knew they drafted when they drafted him. I'm not even worried, as long as he puts up points when he does play. Otherwise he's just a goon.
This is the process of Matteau finding where the edge is. A few suspensions are going to happen. I think the Devils were well aware of this possibility when he was drafted.
Even if this instance looked more dangerous than it really was, Matteau cross-checked a kid in the numbers, 3 feet from the boards. He already has a reputation for going too far so he's not gonna get the benefit of the doubt in these situations.
If his own father has a had in giving him EXTRA suspensions, I think it's safe to say that they're trying to get a point across to young Matteau.
