That's fantastic Jerk...great concept and design. I'm a huge fan of tying the team brand to something to commemorate regional signficance and you've done it. I love that colour scheme is that of the Riders but I love that we've gone away from the R...quite frankly the Ottawa franchise with the R hasn't had a winning season in 35 years.
Though I do really like the name/branding you've created, I think the main logo is a little too detailed for a sports logo - especially CFL. Stack it up against the current teams and it looks out of place.

Just IMO of course.
I do see your concern.

One piece of advice: proof-read! The "story behind the name" photo that you uploaded has two s's in "FIRSST". I'd strongly suggest getting someone with strong wordsmithing skills to go over that sort of thing. It gets the idea across, but it could flow a little better. I'm not trying to criticize; it's just a suggestion that I think could help you market your design better!
I like the word mark and the secondary mark but the primary mark reminds me of the Islanders and the fisherman:
Although it's different and a much cleaner logo, it just gives off the same lame vibe for me....but then I guess the historical association with the name highlander and ottawa suits a soldier better than swords and lightening.

Why are they changing the name from the Renegades? I don't follow CFL at all and I'm from Toronto, so what's happening with the Ottawa team isn't big news here.

Renegades was never a popular name here. We're suppose to get a team 2014.
Great designs. But we've come to expect that haha.

I also hate to be the one to be nitpick on this, especially after all the flak you've received about calling the Highlanders as Canada's official regiment, but the Camerons weren't the first unit ashore on D-Day. The Canadians at Juno were actually the last of the assaulting divisions to land after being delayed by unfavourable currents.
The majority of the Highlanders weren't even part of the assaulting wave; only the recce elements of the Camerons were attached to the assault waves. They were largely in reserve while the assaulting regiments (the Royal Winnipeg Rifles, Regina Rifles, Royal Canadian Regiment, and North Shores) cleared the beaches to allow vehicles to land.
It'd be more fair to say the Highlanders were among Canada's first units ashore on D-Day.

Is this the actual name of the team? Renegades wasn't awful. It's too bad that Brad Waters doofus son and co. were running the show. I actually went to a couple of games. It was alright. Good friday night activity.
I am sure that Hunt's group will have success. If anyone remembers the 67's under Howard & Earl, they would pull in 2000, 3000 fans a game if they were lucky.

I would agree, it's rather awkwardly written to say the least. (check pm plz)
Otherwise, you may have converted an unbeliever here. I wasn't thrilled by the name, but the design you've put together is very catching and doesn't look anything like this...
