This may be a 5min major on Morrow

Yup. I think Morrow got tossed.

5 for boarding and auto game misconduct.

Morrow with a game misconduct.

Grace says that he didn't think it was Morrow's intention to put the guy headfirst into the boards=Morrow probably blatantly put the guy headfirst into the boards. I honestly don't know who is worse between Steigy and Grace.

3-0

I'm out on this one.

It's also good to see that MacIntyre is just as useless in WBS as he is in Pittsburgh.

That's not WBS's announcer. We are watching the other teams feed.

Just realized that.

EDIT: It's the WBS feed, with the away announcers.

Watched the 2 last periods.

Despres was BRUTAL, in a bad way. HAd a really bad turnover creating a breakaway for the other team. He also fumbled the puck on the PP without reason a few times causing it to leave the zone.

Bennet was pretty invisible, soft on the puck and the only time i saw him flashing at least some ability was on the PP

Dumoulin was good.

Tangradi was a BEAST physically. When he dumped the puck and went after it himself there was no one that could contain him, not even those times he dumped it and went 1 on 3 into the zone.

Didnt really tried to look for players, but the players above were the ones i noticed (in good or bad ways)

I'm pretty sure Simon Despres has played in three straight games this weekend but I'm not completely sure.

Is this what happens when high-end forward skill is last on your list of draft priorities?

The big problems so far are offense and the amount of penalties they're taking. The penalties problem is compounded since they're taking so many 1st period penalties; today's game was over when Morrow gave them the extended pp.

Offensively, there's just not much creativity on the team. Outside of Bennett and Tangradi, I don't see much vision and with the plugs Tangradi has played mostly with, Dupuis and Peters, it goes to waste. There have been times when Tangradi has set-up an extra pass to one of those two and they seem unprepared/unable to handle it or doing anything with it. Bennett seems kind of invisible at times but the skill is apparent and he's playing against by far the best competition of his career while coming off a long layoff so I'm not surprised at his inconsistency. Hopefully Megna can help out in this area when he gets into the line-up. Maybe even Veilluex too if he has a bout of health.

Ferriero sort of reminds me of TK in that I find his style to be a bit spaztastic. He's fast and has a decent shot but it just seems like there's no finesse to his game and he has taken a couple of bad penalties as well.

Dumoulin assuaged some fears I've had after his initial game where he looked really bad. He's played a solid positional game with enough offensive skill that I can see him as a good 2nd-pairing d-man in a couple of years.

Despres has looked kind of meh. He seems like the type of guy who plays better in the NHL. One reason I say this is that there have been a number of occasions where he made some effective pinches in the offensive zone but the lack of scoring ability in the forwards group makes you forget that he did anything special in keeping the puck in. He could still be playing better and I would like to see him on one of the PP units.

Morrow is definitely noticeable on the ice and a very active player. Been pleased with his play.

I still think Grant should be playing more often, he's been healthy scratched the last two games and I really believe that he could be a decent third-pairing d-man in the NHL for a club looking for a guy in that role who can contribute to a second PP unit as well.

In goal, neither have been great but Zatkoff has looked better in his 3 starts than Thiessen did in his one. From watching Thiessen last year in the NHL and some in the AHL and his single start this year, I don't have any clue how he had the great 09-10 he had. I just don't see it at all and am close to writing it off as a complete fluke. Zatkoff has been alright but the team can't score and keeps taking penalties and is making it hard for him.

Thompson and Gibbons don't show me much of anything and I can't see them having any kind of NHL careers.

Feels like Holzapfel has taken a bad penalty in each game so far.

Well, that's true for about 15 players, not sure what your point is. I really hope he can show why he's rated as high as he is.

I still shudder when I think we could have drafted Kunetzov instead of Bennett. Redonk pick on Shero's part in the first round. Every team should have 2 players named Evgeni. We had to see this coming when WBS let their top 5 scorers walk last year.

Agree on all accounts. Add to that Strait had a really good game, again. Here's the highlights

Kuznetsov's a great pick if you can convince him to come over to North America.
