Roster

Who to watch?BARONS TO WATCH: Justin Schultz the reigning AHL player of the week is at the top of the teams stat sheet in goals (4) points (6) shots on goal (17) SH goals (2) and 2nd on the team in +/- (+6). Needless to say he has been the Barons best player through their first 4 games. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Jordan Eberle risk going pointless against Lake Erie in their 4 game season series.

MONSTERS TO WATCH: Tyson Barrie has been a Baron's killer with 2-2-4 and 8 shots on goal in the 3 games against the Barons. The Monsters hot goaltending tandem of Sami Aittokallio (2gp. 2-0-0 0.933sv% and 2.10 GAA) and Calvin Pickard (3gp. 2-1-0 0.969 sv% and 1.01 GAA and 2 SO) look to shut down the Barons highly skilled team one more time.

I may as well keep this quote here permanently! From earlier in the season.....

Quotable"He's worth the hype, Dan, I'll tell you that." -Barons head coach Todd Nelson on defenseman Justin Schultz

I want Pitlick and Arcobello to switch places.

And I want Eberle and Nuge to give slightly more of a damn. Just a little. A tad. Then those chances start to go in for them.

More Schultz dominance also please.

PP has been underwhelming to say the least, let's fix that up too.

Asking for too much?

Not expecting anything from the big guns. Predicting another loss. As long as Schultz and Marincin play well, I'll be happy. I wanna see Hartikainen continue to bang some bodies too.

I would have to agree, Arcobello play hasn't been that great and if I remember right Martindale and Pitlick had some chemistry in the pre-season. I would even go as far as moving Arcobello to the 4th line and moving up Hamilton to the 3rd.

I hate it when teams play each other this many times so early in the season. It's like the Oil playing the Flames 400 times at the start of the season and never see each other again till the last week of the season.

The guy making the AHL schedule should be shot. You don't play 2 teams 4 times in the 1st two weeks and then not again for the entire year.

I hate the monsters lol

Hoping shultz can keep up his awesome play this guy is exciting !
And marincin he may be overshadowed by shultz but this guy has also been really great

I don't know about nuge and ebs should i be worried i was expecting them to dominant much more then they have (they really haven't) or maybe they just aren't trying? lacking motivation?

If they dont start producing we should send them down to Stockton.

5.9% PP, no wonder they've had trouble winning.

Would be nice to see them play a different team...

Oh well. It's still hockey.

IMO this is a statement game, IMO we were boned a bit by the refs last time, Olver and RNH were getting into it a bit, let's see RNH and Eberle bring the same intensity they did on the last shift of Saturday's game all game long and see what happens. While the Barons PP has been dog food, they have only gotten a grand total of 3 PP's in their last 2 games. We need to be more aggressive and draw more penalties among other things. Martindale is getting a big push and it will be interesting to see how he works with Paajarvi out there. Time for Arcobello, Lander, and some of our other secondary guys to chip in as well. This should be a statement game, hopefully it's us making the statement and not Lake Erie.

After this game we'll be facing Minnesota's stacked prospect stable the Houston Aeros. Not sure how that'll work out, but it could be a high scoring affair. After that the Texas Stars. Both teams are giving up an average of 3 goals a game or more.

A situation ideal for a team that possesses our offensive firepower. But a breakout/statement game against Lake Erie would be huge to ensuring some sort of momentum going into those games.

I'm terrified of playing Granlund. Our young D-core is impressive and holds a lot of potential, but containing a talent like Granlund with unpolished defensive games will be challenging.

Perhaps the refs will call some penalties and we won't have to watch the Barons wear the Monsters as coats

It's the AHL, barely 4 games in to the year, the Barons defense looks dynamic and you're "terrified" of playing the Aeros and Granlund? Be happy... It's an exciting test for the young guys, as well we get to see some quality players in the AHL (future NHLers) match up against each other. There is nothing to be terrified about. It's a long road, guys are still developing.

Looks like Abney isn't just a scratch, he was reassigned to Stockton.

PP sucks... See RNH wasn't the solution.

It was Potter and Horcoff.

Ugh, i really miss the NHL's schedule where you don't play the same team over and over within a month.

That's good news, yes he's a goon, but he needs to stay in game shape and he's not doing that riding the pine.
