He was sent down Oct. 8. I read an article at the time that they had two weeks to make a decision on him, which is today.

As someone previously stated, the problem is he takes out two roster players. One being one of three overager spots and the other being one of two import spots (unless he were to take an overager/import spot e.g. Cajkovsky in Ottawa).

My guess is Rimouski releases him tomorrow, no other CHL team claims him and he either ends up in the ECHL or Europe. Probably Europe seeing they didn't assign him to Elmira in the first place.

Hope Frontenacs pick him up. That way I have a prospect I can watch.

Even if him making the Ottawa is slim.

You really dont think any team is willing to pick Culek up? 40 points in 55 games is not bad at all for a shut down center

When shane prince is ready to go, i'm expecting a big impact on bingo. The team needs a guy like him in my opinion.

Yeah, I thought we had no chance of getting him, but being the last team eliminated from his "process" just rubbed it in even more.

Ah, well. At least we've got 65.

well, when you think about it, there was really no reason for him to choose us unless we were promising a pairing with EK. He's the only offensive dman choice in edmonton, vs here he would've been stuck on the 2nd or 3rd pairing + 2nd PP unit, limiting his earning potential.

Absolutely agree, and that's why I didn't like our chances beforehand. But for some reason he chose to decline us last. Perhaps we shouldn't assume that we were his second favourite choice just because of that, but it was still something that added some hope on the day he decided.

So many Sens fans were vehemently denying all of this when it was down to us versus Edmonton.

2nd PP unit? It would have been him and EK forever and a day on PP1 - if he's as good as he appears.

I thought I read it was the Ottawa media that made his final decision to chose Edmonton, I think Murray even mentioned it after the fact?

I believe it was that Edmonton's press were essentially making pleas to bring him on board - something Ottawa's didn't and that swayed him.

It wasn't a case of the Ottawa media pissing him off but more of the Edmonton media pandering to his ego.

I can personally guarantee you all and am willing to bet on the life of Sask that Schultz's deciding factor was NOT the media.

Fair enough, my memory isn't great on the situation, but I do remember reading something about that, whether that was the deciding factor I have no idea.

Edit: Just so its not like I made it up, here's something I found on it, doesn't sound like the deciding factor or anything, but still.

Ben Bishop is sick according to Luke Richardson; might have strep throat. He's on antibiotics, has the night sweats, and can barely swallow () . . . hopefully he gets better soon!

Culek has been signed to an ELC, as I understand it the Sens could assign him to Elmira.
