Lol, I saw that and thoroughly enjoyed it. I love seeing players act tough and write cheques their butts can't cash.

Yes that is him. Man did I enjoy that. He wasn't even the one instigating it, the D-man was. And then some switch flipped and he started teeing off his with straight rights, uppercuts, just ragdolling this guy and then even to put some icing on it switched to southpaw and started landed some accurate shots like he was a shadow of PJ Stock or something. It was epic.

With that kind of shot this guy is gonna step into the NHL and dominate from day 1. He's gonna be a lot of fun to watch.

Crazy how he can beat goalies cleanly with a wrist shot from that far out. I think Eberle is our best shooter at the moment and while he's really accurate there's no way he scores from where Nail has been.

I remember how right after the cup run we were looking for a "one shot scorer" to play with Hemsky and we got Lupul. Crazy how much things have changed since then.

holy crap.. what a wrister. Kid has more accuracy and velocity on his wrist shot than some guys with their slap shots. Now we're gonna be blessed with two new guys with deadly wrist shots - Yakupov and Schultz

yeah that shot is something else... i know i've said this probably a hundred times already, but yakupov likely already has the best shot on the oilers... it just explodes off his stick, ridiculous release speed and its accurate... you add in the fact that he has an exceptional one-timer and you have the makings of a "one-shot-scorer"

Different league, doesn't matter.

In fact I never liked the league retiring his number the way it did. It took away some of the specialness of the Oilers/Kings retiring it.

The only upside for me is pointing out to friends who cheer for other teams that the best player their team has the number retired for never played for them.

Yak's slapper >>> his wrister
injection of Yak and Schultz might be bigger then when Hall and Ebs duo stepped into NHL together.

While it sucks, it's still good for a guy like Yak to have success at a "pro" level like he is before he steps in for the Oilers.

Same with Schultzy

Yakupov scores a GWG with 9 seconds left in the third period.
Laser beam of a wrist-shot.

At about 6:30 of the video.

Just curious, but what did you think of Yak before?

A true scout would not admit failure and blame everything else. So yeah don't bother!

I was sort of on the defensive defenceman boat, glad they went with Yakupov though =). Especially considering Schultz!

The thing I like about Yakupov is not only that he is scoring at a great pace, but he's producing clutch goals at very important times of the game - like last minute of games, shootouts, and when he team is trailing by a goal. He seems to step up his game when his team needs him the most. Thats a great quality to have.

well, you're admitting you were wrong... many people won't do that, good on you

i was a HUGE yakupov backer, and he is playing better in the KHL than i even dared to hope he would, so it's safe to say he is outproducing all of our expectations so far... so you have plenty of company on the "i never knew he was this good" train
