Went with Redden, thought about both Phillips and Heatley.

Yashin. He was our first real star and helped lead the team out of the basement. He was underappreciated by management during the early years and it soured his relationship with the team and the city. Ultimately led to him sitting out during contract disputes and prevented him from becoming the true franchise player he could've been. Trading him netted important pieces in Chara and Spezza.

IDEGAF that's he a complete cancer, Heatley has to be up there... Him with Spez and Alfie destroyed the league...

I'll stick with Redden for reasons stated in the previous thread.

I take him narrowly over Yashin, Chara, Karlsson, Heatley, Hossa, Duchesne, Arvedson. Probably in that order.

Having said that, one of the problems with Redden is that he never appeared "dominant" on the ice. He was not the kind of player who could noticeably take over a hockey game. Alfredsson, Spezza, Heatley, Karlsson, Chara and Yashin have all had games like that. Even at his best, Redden never had that ability.

The closest Redden ever came to looking that good was in the first round of the 2006 playoffs against Tampa Bay after his mother died. He was absolutely sensational in that series. I remember thinking that he had finally hit that next level. There was real passion in his game.

I would not have guessed that would he would not only never match that level of play again, but that he would begin a speedy decline and be out of the NHL by his 33rd birthday.

Karlsson.

He changed the entire dynamic of this team when it was crappy. HM to Chara and Yashin.

Yashin had a long impact and the trade that sent him away is still paying dividends. Yashin for me.

Karlsson has has an impact on Ottawa for 1 year. The year before he was good but he wasn't jaw dropping. Heatley was as much of an impact as Karlsson was last year for a good series of years. Yashin too. I picked Heatley just because I got to see him play live and experience his ability first hand.

went with redden over yashin.

redden very much shaped this franchise's play on the ice, similar to how karlsson is doing today.

Went with Phillips but i may have misunderstood the question.

Positive impact? or just Impact. If Impact, Yashin.

Lol, no one realizes how unbelievably pathetic we were for a good 2 years without an offensive defenseman. Brendan ****ing BELL was seeing top minutes.

Karlsson not only filled that role but he was arguably the MVP of the team last year and enabled us to make the playoffs as well as become the best defense man in the league AND youngest to do so since BOBBY ORR.

It's Karlsson.
