U could make the arguement that Dal Colle has the highest hockey IQ out of any 96' forward in the 2012 OHL draft. His adjustment to the OHL is a great sign to this kid's IQ. He is very in tune to what is happening and reads plays extremely well, very impressive. Biggs has helped DAl Colle not get intimidated in any way, just play hockey. When Biggs stood up for the rookie after he took his first big hit of the season, he sent a clear message to the OHL what type of player he is. Standing up for Dal Colle would have given Dal Colle great comfort and a ton of confidence. U mess with one of the Generals and Biggs will fight u. Biggs to me is far better than I imagined, he has everyones back. That brings teams together. Excellent leadership.

Thanks for the shoutout!

I do this because I love the game of hockey and have the avenue to be allowed to write on the team. Some of my articles may not be as timely as I would like, but with a full-time job taking priority, this sports-writing hobby has to take third place behind work and a young family.

I endeavour to be accountable and accurate as possible. I want my articles to be credible to the knowledgeable fan base.

Please keep reading!

Cheers,
Dean

As I said before, kid is the real deal. Dave Reid might still have his job if his scouts did their work.

I have Sunday off from work so I'll be going to the game this Sunday against the Knights. I can't wait. First game this year for me (busy with work) and it's against London. I'm pretty pumped. Can't wait to see how better Laughton has gotten. I'm also pumped to see MDC and Biggs as well. I also get a chance to see the defending OHL champs.

Sunday night's contest will be Oshawa's toughest of their three games this weekend. It should be interesting to see if Oshawa can bring their "A" game on the third night of three games.

Stop by section 120 row 5 on the aisle if you want to say 'hi'! I will be there. Unfortunately tonight I am out of town and will have to watch the game later as it will be recorded on the DVR.

Cheers,
Dean

Great blog moose ! Keep them coming. Having been a long time Sarnia fan(my hometown) and having been subjected to some really God awful management and ownership over the years it's really refreshing to see what's happening in Oshawa. It's great for the fans.

Thank you Jwalk. I appreciate the kind sentiments. I will offer this up to everyone and anyone interested, if there is a particular player or question you would like more information on, please fire me an email or talk to me in person at the Gens games.

I haven't had time yet, but in the next week or two, hope to start interviewing one-on-one and writing human interest pieces on the players, coaching staff, etc throughout the season.

Cheers Jwalk,

Dean

According to TSN Boone Jenner is rated the Number 2 rated player in O. Surprised that Lessio wasn't rated higher. List looks pretty London- centric with Griffith at 1 and Domi at 3. Wonder if Mark Hunter drew this up ?lol. Also surprised that Alex Galchenyuk was rated so low at 28. Pretty low for the number 3 pick in the NHL draft :

sorry everyone for the lack of GENS updates over the past week...

After a long week of working long hours on the road, I am back home, ready to get back in touch with my Generals' duties...

From what I understand in last night's game against Kitchener, Altshuller did not have a very strong game and backup tender Ken Appleby had to come in to the game to relieve him.

Gens lost 6 - 2 in Kitchener's home opener...

Take care,
Dean

I would rather Matt Hore in the line up instead of Hunter Smith, I don't get it.I can't understand playing Smith between Laughton and Lessio, and Latour,Hughes and Hore on the 4th line.I get that Smith is a work in project because of his size, but realistically he is not ready for the OHL quite yet IMHO.

I am back with another post-game review:

Oshawa Generals definitely looked tired tonight: http://ourhometowngennies.ca/2012/10...-whalers-wake/

Matt Hore had a total of 3 shifts tonight--Hunter Smith didn't have many more...

Oshawa's defense was suspect for most of the night. They allowed Plymouth to walk in over the blue line way too many times tonight.

I agree with your assessment of the game Moose, I`m left to wonder what`s up with Petgrave and Schemitch some games they play great and other games it`s like how many times can we turn over the puck in our zone or at the red line, when everyone is going to wrong way?? Boone, Laughton, Biggs, Dal Colle all looked gassed, Lessio got hurt 1st play of the game,Cassells Sabourin,LLoyd all had a good game. Altshuller need s to stay on his feet, it`s too easy for other teams to put the puck up on him (very predictable) and Payne called it on the 1st intermission interview 5 hole. Payne actually put 2 past Altshuller the same way (5 hole)

Why coaches bother to insert a guy like M.Hore to only not play him (let's face it, one 45 second shift basically means you're only playing 3 lines) just doesn't make sense. You know your team is gassed and yet you have guys that won't even break a sweat and are effectively spectators from the bench level who should be out there helping the squad with healthy and super fresh legs.

Bad news for Gens fans, Lessio is out for 12 weeks (skate cut across arm) Hunter Smith 12 weeks some cut as Lessio, but a little less severe. I guess that will give other players an opportunity to step up.Not quite sure when Uvira is expected back in the lineup.

Lessio is said to be out for 10 to 12 days (not weeks)12 stitches on his fingers

Well lets hope it is not that long or They will be in serious trouble as his scoring threat and speed makes other teams line match.
Guess I will wait to hear what the true story is before writing off the season.
