Nice. So I will know how Filip Forsberg is related to Scott Stevens the next time it's brought up.

But seriously, those kinds of charts and graphs are awesome. Want moar.

Islanders are moving to Brooklyn.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-pu...medium=twitter

Too bad for the current fans, since Barclays Center only holds 14k and is going to bring some serious price hikes.

Fans weren't showing up, ownership was losing money, they'll be closer to the other boroughs, still on LI, I think it's great.

Good news for me! I live on Manhattan and Ranger tickets are too expensive!!!!

Although, it's going to be a terrible arena to watch hockey it.

This is so classic New York. Zero thought on building the arena in the first place for both sports. Then everybody piles on at the last minute for political points.

I'd have to think tickets at Barclays might be as much or more than Rags tickets those first years. I think it's a great idea though.

I don't think so. I think the Islanders will still sell $30 a ticket. Rangers games are like $150.

You're probably right on that. What's the average price of Nets vs Knicks tickets?

Edit: I'll answer that myself, usually $15-30 for Nets and $40-100 for Knicks.

As someone LeBrun retweeted pointed out, the Islanders have not averaged more than 14,500 (Barlcay's capacity) in attendance since 2002-2003. There will likely be price hikes, but it's this is a rare case where you can't blame the franchise at all. Wang tried time and again, with and without public money to get his team to stay on Long Island, but Nassau County just wouldn't allow it.

I wasn't necessarily saying it's bad that they're moving; just that it sucks for Islanders fans who have been abused by year after year of bad teams and now are going to get priced out just as their team is hitting its stride. One of the only cheap tickets in town is going the way of artificial scarcity. It's great for business, though; look how well it's working for the Jets.

Well the fans elected the government that forced the move, so I can't hold any sympathy for them.

It sounds like they are going to try and squeeze more seats in there.

I would sure rather the Wild got moved to say Arden Hills than Los Angeles. Not that bad for the fans.

Not all Minnesotan voted for Bachman because she's a district representative in the house, the vast majority of the state didn't have her on the ballot. In her district, which she represents, the vast majority of voters supported her either directly through their votes or indirectly through their decision not to vote.

Not all Islanders fans voted for those particular elected officials, but if you've been following the situation at all you'd understand why there should be absolutely no sympathy for fans.

Considering the Islanders owner tried literally everything to get a new arena built, I have absolutely no pitty for Nassau County or its residents in this instance.

It was. Apparently Michigan law defines "more than double the legal limit" as "super drunk."

Shamelessly stolen from the Prospect forum thread:

So Ladd, Slater, and Stuart stay in Winnipeg year round? (I'm assuming Richards was there because it's just a few hours from Kenora, or maybe he lives there too) Seems a bit surprise for guys from BC, Minnesota, and Michigan.
