Hello Swedish friends.

Gerber is doing pretty well again with Rögle !

Does someone know why he stoped with Vaxjo ?? I tought that all (vaxjo and gerber) were on a little cloud. And suddenly learned that gerber was moving to Rögle. (3 mths ago ! )

Gerber ended the season with a .93 %saves and a 2.11 GAA.
Even Oscar Alsenfelt who was a backup ending up with a .927 stat ... and 2.18 GAA left Vaxjo for Modo.
These are good stats !

I know Vaxjo had as objective to qualify for the playoffs ... yet goaltending wasn't the reason they missed their objective.

So does someone know the story behind the facts ?

tks

I remember hearing about Gerber and the Växjö coach not getting along that well. The coach is a bit of a hot head.

And Alsenfeldt I suppose wanted to be a starter somewhere(although right now he's finding himself as a backup again). Ironically Växjö has had the worst goaltending so far.

That made me actually tilt, Vaxjo ended up last year with 2 goalies with a %save above .927 ! (many teams would dream about that !) and they keep none of these goalies !

To end up with the worst stats on goaltending ... so far this year !
that's as you say : pretty ironical

tks

I want him back in Färjestad. He was absolutely amazing there. Our current goalies are doing pretty well though.

I guess that Växjö really hoped that Norrena had something left in him, but I think it has been fairly obvious these last few years that he has been slowly becoming worse. They should've tried to keep Gerber, but I'm willing to guess that he and Janne Karlsson didn't get along all that well. Janne is definitely a hothead.

All the while the GM was planning for Karlssons eventual demise. Why not just fire Karlsson in the off season and keep Gerber? Horrible management from a team that has done a commendable job for getting to this level.
