Go Pack! With Immonen and Pack in the lineup we have some serious offensive power going into this series!

Portland takes the first game in Hartford 6-2. C'mon Pack, you have to do better than that!

If Pack don't win the next game its pretty much over. After game 2, the next 4 are all on the road.

For some reason the coaching staff mixed up our top line which was racking in the points, hopefully they put them back together next game.

Better pray that the ducks win tonight. Getzlaf, Perry and Penner head back to the pirates if they don't. Portland didn't even play their A game the other night either.

Obviously the Pack didn't either. When they play their A game...they win.

That's a very interesting schedule. Lower seed gets the first 2 games at home, 4 games in a row at the higher seed with game 7 back at the lower seed?

I assume there's something going on at the Cumberland Civic Center causing that odd schedule.

The circus is at the Hartford Civic Center next week, causing the huge scheduling mixup.

Circus's and sporting events don't get along too well.

This is the 3rd instance I've heard of in the least few weeks of a circus cauasing problems with scheduling.

Nope, he was given the night off (back to back games), Pack have so many players on the active roster since they signed so many players to contracts recently. There is 8 healthy scratches a night.

This series really points out the arena issues AHL teams face. Not just the 2-4-1 format (which could easily give Hartford a Game 7 at home), but the timing. Games 1-4 were played in 6 nights from May 2-7. Games 4-7 will take 11 days, from May 7-17.

Makes me worry about the next round - the Circus is headed for Hershey.

Is there any chance at all that to make a more "normal" schedule that the Bears would play a game or two at the old barn?

They may as well take advantage of having a 2nd arena at their disposal instead of taking 17 days to play a 7-game series.

The logistics of moving suite holders across the parking lot would be an interesting challenge. Truth be known, I'd love to see one game there, but I'm not sure the old barn is up to it. Upkeep hasn't been a major priority of the crews over there.

I was actually thinking another 2-4-1, or even a 3-4 setup might not be out of the question. The circus is in from the 24th to 29th. In all likelihood that would make the place unavailable from the 22nd to the 31st (figuring setup and cleanup). Against either team, we don't have home ice, so we'd normally get the middle three. Assuming the series starts about the 19th (earlier if either team wins it in 6), that can't possibly work.

Why the 2-4-1 (besides the obvious Circus)

Portland had the choice of a 2-4-1 format or a 2-3-1-1 series format---Hartford was consulted and Dineen opted for the 2-4-1, even though the Pirates have home ice in this series.

Where's my favourite player Brad Smyth?
He hasn't played since game 1 of Portland-series. Injured?

I think that ? HAS BEEN ANSWERED, Spelman, too many players returned from the Rangers AFTER the Devils series not to mention the junior/collegiate signings.

Actually, according to Hartford sources, it's not just numbers. He's being reported as having his conditioning not up to par.
