Wang tried to get his lighthouse redevelopment project thru which would have included an arena and very little taxpayer money

Town of Hempstead continually refused ,,, They only want renovation of Nassau Collisiem which is a dump and no longer viable

They dont like Wang and Wang refused to play there game (Give them control of project/say in what happens/revenue not related and control of union contracts/etc)

I'm sure some of those fans will make the ride... but unless they're a playoff team come 2015, who is going to be their core fans? I'm not sold on the idea that the Brooklyn neighborhood is just going to all of a sudden start supporting a team, when they've already had access to teams that are pretty close. Also, it's not like Jay Z has an ownership stake in this team so that marketability doesn't apply to try and draw fans.
I'm with you. I am pretty sure most people in the New York region that don't live in Long Island or Brooklyn are/will be Rangers fans.

Refresh my memory, but that was the plan that included an apartment complex, restaurants, shops, etc... right? I don't blame Wang for moving the team, I just question the fashion he did it in for his profitability after they do move. Then again, he probably doesn't even know what profit means anymore when it comes to his team.

Yes. It was basically a bunch of other hoopla surrounding a really nice, new stadium.

Think I remember seeing a blue print for it, or something like that, and it looked awesome....

Oh, it did.

Jay-Z is writing a song for the Isles.

"If you havin' lease problems, I feel bad for you, son. I got 99 problems, but a rink ain't one!"

Saw someone tweet something alone the lines of...

"I got 99 problems, and Rick DiPietro is one."

Yep it was Wang's dream

When he bought Isles he always viewed them as a piece of bigger puzzle

He wanted to create something special there (And very profitable for him)

If it would have been anywhere else (Chi/Pit/Etc) the city and its leaders would have praised him and put his project on fast track

Town of Hempstead on other hand refused to allow any of it

I like it, a lot. Can definitely tell it's different, but same flow... looks great.

Brooklyn isn't on Long Island. Name change? We'll see, but I doubt it, and it will join the likes of the Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Lakers.

Bruce Ratner will also become minority owner of Isles

Ratner's group own 20% of Nets and 55% of Arena

I didn't know...I just google mapped it. Looks like Manhattan and the Bronx are on the mainland and Queens and Brooklyn are on the island.

I am glad. It is nice that Brooklyn staying the Islanders make sense geographically.

I'd love the normal logo with the Brooklyn Bridge replacing the Long Island landmass.

Bronx is only one on the mainland. Everything else is an island.

It would make it easier for him to relocate to LA after that.

They said they weren't changing the name, or the logos.

Yeah, and there is no reason for them to even think to. They're only moving 17 more miles than the Devils did when they moved to Newark. Still on the same island.

They might change the logo very slightly, as the current logo's "I" in "Islanders" points to where their arena is, so might just call for a very slight touch-up.

Everything else though, keep the same.... except for their awful thirds...
