Wait, let me get this straight.

So lets say we dont have a hockey season this year (knock on wood).

The start of next year, Mitchell, Stoll, and Williams contracts will expire?

If so will they still be paid for this year?

If there is no hockey this year, the start of next season Penner, Gagne, Scuderi and Richardson will be UFA. Stoll will have 2 years left, Williams 2 years and Mitchell 1 year. And if there is no hockey, none of the players get paid outside of those who got signing bonuses that paid them on July 1st, 2012 and July 1st, 2013 (ie: Weber, Parise, Suter, etc..)

Nobody gets paid during the lockout. Nobody. Also all contracts will advance by a year, they don't get pushed back because they are based on definite years not term of service. When a player signs for two years, he is signing to play for the club from 2012-2014, for those two seasons. Not for two years of service that must be played regardless.

This hurts the kings. The kings may end up getting stuck with mitchel and Williams longer than we want him

Need calrification on this as I've read numerous times that this year would come off the contract so Mitchell et al would not play out two years.

The whole point of the players losing money they can never get back is that they lose the year off of the contract. If the year did not fall off of the contract, then the players could just sit around all day because they wouldn't be losing money, only delaying payment of the contract.

As far as I know, the year comes off. Penner just signed a contract that he will never see one dollar of if the season is lost.

No, the opposite happens. Mitchell is signed through until July 1st 2014. At that time he is UFA regardless of what happens. If this season is cancelled, he's still UFA July 1st, 2014.

Except in the case of hold outs (ie: Yashin, Nabokov, Thomas..) where if a player sits out on a year he's signed to, that year can carry over. They owe that year of service. When it's a lockout or long term injury, those sorts of things aren't tacked on.

Players who were injured before the lockout will continue to receive paychecks until they’re cleared to play by team doctors.
Jonathan Quick Kings $1,700,000 is on the list

Players that have been bought out by their teams are still getting paid.

I don't know if there are any Kings that make the list

Honestly, I haven't missed the NHL at all so far. Guess it is the Stanley Cup hangover for fans.

Plenty of other things to do each day and I'm getting more sleep.

I was alright during the time of training camp and pre-season, but now I am pissed that we are missing our banner ceremony and chance to defend our title. The Kings are still noticed by many as a fluke. I want to take this roster for a spin now that things were running on all cylinders. Things finally come together, we win the cup, and now we can't see what the best roster we've ever had can do for a full season, and likely never will as they probably won't all be re-signed next season. We had the ultimate opportunity of returning with our entire Stanley Cup winning roster, which is unheard of in this day, and we won't be able to use it. I am quite disappointed.

Why would anyone call the Kings a fluke? Once Murray took over they domnated in all zones.

Well, its true, they did.

They are the class of the NHL, and no matter who they played in any of the rounds it was going to be an easy path.

Hint: that's how you respond to the Neanderthals that don't understand hockey. Then see them sweat at the utter logic of it all.

then spin it further to really piss them off.

"yeah the Kings breezed through and won it all. They are top team in the league. Where did your team finish? Oh they didn't make the playoffs. Your team must be truly pathetic if my ****** LA Kings won the SC, but your team couldn't even get into the cakewalk SC playoffs."

sit back and watch the smoke pump out of their ears

For what it's worth, it is being reported that a secret meeting took place tonight (according to his source) in NYC between Fehr and Bettman and it lasted about 3 hours.

The source relayed some details which are in his article

http://www.insiderrumors.com/2012/no...ons-discussed/

According to him, the crux of the meeting was this:

•Fehr has proposed to introduce a concept similar to a “luxury tax” in some aspects. In order for owners to honor current contracts, the richest 8 teams would pay the portion of the salaries that would otherwise constitute the “make whole” provision. That way, the teams losing $$ would not suffer and the rich owners, who are against the lockout anyway, would pay a little more. In exchange, their teams would be allowed to slightly go over the salary cap; proportionately to the portion of the “make whole” they would pay off. This would be a temporary measure which would be removed once the 50/50 revenue share would be reached, under option 1 or 2 of the initial NHLPA proposal through year 3 of the new CBA, due to revenue growh. Afterwards, the hard cap would be reinstated. l

If true Bettman tosses in the trash. This is just the same thing as the other deals Bettman tossed but the Leafs pay the 51-57%
