I'd rather we have a shot at someone of Jones's or MacKinnon's caliber.

Let's not kid ourselves, we all know that Edm will somehow end up getting first overall.

that would be sickening. There should be some rule for sucking too much in a row.

Really liking what I'm seeing from Jonathan Drouin.

Would not be opppose to drafting him should he fall to us.

I agree. With that being said I see him as a top 10-12 player and at that range we could also have a shot at guys like Lazar and Shinkaruk. Talk about some talent there.

Yeah.

I'm hearing that he is projected to be right after the top-10, but that his draft stock is increasing.

Any player in the top 10 is worth getting, but we should talk about who to get in the 12 to 25 range.

Anyway Drouin has got to be inside the top 10 now, hes probably been the second best draft '13 player so far in the season.

Who would you rank in the top-10 then?

This is a little bit premature because I normally post my top 30 near Christmas time and a lot can change between now and then. But here is my top 10 currently,

1. Mackinnon
2. Jones
3. Barkov
4. Monahan
5. Lazar
6. Drouin
7. Shinkaruk
8. Ristolainen
9. Nichushkin
10. Pulock.

Since my fall ranking, Jones drops to second due to his slow start, Barkov (thee hottest draft eligible player) jumps over Monahan, Drouin jumps from teens to 6th, and that is it.

Nice. I would say that's a solid list.

Mostly wishful hoping that Drouin remains outside the top-10 (better chance to pick him up). Though who knows, we could get a top-3 pick

Saw Halifax play on NHL Network, wow was Drouin good. MacKinnon too, but Drouin was better than I expected him to be and had a nice shot on him. If we don't land Jones to shore up our defensive by some miracle, it be awesome to come away with someone like Drouin.

This draft looks pretty stacked in the top 10-15.

Drouin seriously reminds me of Patrick Kane. The guy is just so smooth with the puck. Actually to be honest the games I've seen I think Drouin has been much better than MacKinnon. MacKinnon has great speed and handles the puck at top speeds like Datsyuk, but I think he tries to do way to much with the puck some times, which makes him pretty selfish that ultimately hurts the team.

Also I don't know how many of you are watching the Super Series, but so far I've seen every game and Nichushkin has looked very, very good as well. I've never seen a Russian (since Oveckin) want to hit so badly, plus he was a wicked shot, and pretty sick hands. Actually a Russian I won't mind the Avs drafting if we're 8-15.

With the potential lose of the entire season, I've been following this year's prospects a lot more (hoping for some luck in a potential draft lottery).

I'm love to pick up a lottery player like Jones or Drouin, but there really is some serious depth in this years draft.

ISS November Ranking:

Nathan MacKinnon
Seth Jones
Aleksandr Barkov
Jonathan Drouin
Sean Monahan
Curtis Lazar
Hunter Shinkaruk
Rasmus Ristolainen
Darnell Nurse
Elias Lindholm

Said one scout of Drouin: “Can not say enough good things about this player... with added size and grit he would challenge Nathan for Number One overall.”

MacKinnon stays atop ISS rankings; Drouin surges to fourth

If we win the lottery, we most likely choose Seth Jones, or would we choose mackinnon and use stastny to get us a #2 dman to pair with johnson? If we end up between 6th and 12th who do choose? Pulock ristolainen lindholm Lazar?

Pretty good problems to have.

I would assume we would take MacKinnon, but I would be over the moon happy either way.

As for 6th-12th, I would hope for Drouin to fall and if not a guy like Lazar or even Shinkaruk would be a good consolation.

Wouldn't mind this guy to fall to us in the 2nd:

Quote:
Morgan Klimchuk stormed out of the gate in his WHL career with a fantastic rookie year in 2011-12, posting 18 goals and 36 points for Regina. Coming into this season I called him a kid who will one day be a point-per-game player and someone to watch as a potential late-first round pick in the 2013 NHL Draft.

Well, he's ahead of schedule with those predictions this season as Klimchuk leads the Pats in goals with 11 and is second in points with 21 in only 22 games. As expected, NHL teams are definitely taking notice of his offensive contributions. But to me, it's the other parts of his game that set him apart and make him an NHL prospect to keep your eyes on.

The first thing about his game you will notice is his blazing speed. He's extremely quick, with great top end speed and the ability to change directions on a dime. His mobility and shiftiness make him extremely hard to defend. Along with those abilities come an aggressive mindset. He's definitely a shoot-first player, but he doesn't waste his shots. He picks his spots, is able to find seams in the defence and make his chances count.

I would think the Avs would draft best player available if we pick top-3. In that case, as of now, that would be MacKinnon.

I'm with RS though. Not going to get my hopes up for a lottery pick, but hoping Drouin falls to us. Although there is LOTS of talent in the 1st round this year.

I would prefer Jones over MacKinnon, but both players would be awesome to have.

Actually I think I like Barkov more than MacKinnon, IMO.

Also if Drouin isn't available around 7-15 I really suggest picking, Nichushkin. This kid is still a bit raw, but damn I think his potential is a top 4 pick.

@RS: Greg Chase for our 2nd rounder.

I really want Drouin, fills a huge hole in our prospect pool and my god is he talented.. he was the straw that stirred the drink for Huberdeau and Mackinnon in the super series, and was playing hurt. The game before they couldn't generate any offense

If season is canceled will we be given the results of a Draft lottery right away or will they wait till ahl, ohl, whl, qmjhl and other leagues end?
