Columbus radio host Scott Torgerson has ultimately been let go by 97.1 in Columbus for his Desmond Howard tweet. http://*******/WJ693u

He should have been fired a long time ago because he sucks, but it just stupid to be fired over something said over Twitter.

Rumor is Herbstreit went straight to the Wolfs to demand he be fired. It's pathetic what babies people are. Herbstreit can sure hold a grudge but don't dare anyone else hold one against him though or he will run out of town crying.

What's kinda funny about this is that , while he is bad, I'm sure one of the reasons he was employed was because he "moves the meter." And now, gets fired over the biggest meter-mover of them all.

I'll be filing that in the same cabinet as discussions of grassy knolls, moon landing sound stages, NYC inside jobs in Sept. 2001, a small New Mexico town named Roswell, and Obama's birth certifiate.

Nah, that's more "extremist oversimplified conclusion" rather than "conspiracy theory". Now, if you want to claim that that failure is because Priest is pulling all the puppet strings, then go ahead.

There's a Facebook campaign calling for Torg to be re-hired which is rapidly approaching 10,000 supporters.

Is Rimer doing OK physically? I've noticed through his interviews with Keith Acton & JD that his hair has seemed to get thinner and thinner as the summer's gone on.

I hope so. Say what you will about him as a play-by-play guy, but he's always struck me as an extremely kind man.

Well, this could be fun if we ever get a season:

Quote:
There were hints this summer that NHL great Alexei Kovalev was contemplating a tryout agreement with the Blue Jackets, and The Dispatch has confirmed the two parties talked before the lockout began on Sept. 15. That seems highly unlikely now, as do all such deals. If this comes together, it will come together very quickly.

Oh dear G-d. Please no. If we were going to go for a guy of potentially dubious work ethic but with semiephemeral talent to back it up, I'd rather we go for AKostitsyn (for marketing purposes) or even bring back Zherdev.

Alex Kovalev was one of my favorite players when he was on his game, but he is the epitome of enigma. On some nights he was absolutely dazzling, with awe-inspiring hands, an absolute cannon of a shot, hard to knock off the puck, and competitive. On other nights, he reminded me of Manny Ramirez ... watching the game, not really interested or paying attention, skating in large circles at the wrong end of the rink.

If we get a motivated, competitive Kovalev, absolutely. He fills a huge void on the right wing and mentors a guy like Anisimov. If we get the other Kovalev, I say let someone else take on that problem.

Gawd I hope that idiot doesn't get rehired. He's a jackass.

On the other note, I thought Rimer's hair just looks like he's letting it go gray, finally. I sure hope he's ok.

Well, Rimer's had health issues in the last few years. I remember a tough surgery he had and a tough recovery.

But also isn't he just flat out getting old?

Alexei Kovalev??

Based on our total lack of talent on the right the side I would consider this if he could be signed to a base contract that was all incentive based. X games played, minutes per game etc., I don't think it's legal is it? Certainly can't base it on goals or assists can you?

He can play really soft.. but if he is on and taking shots the guy is really good.

Pro teams running out of fans:

10. Columbus Blue Jackets

> 2001-2002 W-L record: 22-47-8-5 (5th in Central Division)
> 2011-2012 W-L record: 29-46-7 (5th in Central Division)
> League championships last decade: none

To say the Columbus Blue Jackets have been a less-than-successful team over the years is perhaps an understatement. Since joining the league in 2000, the team has never finished better than third place in its five-team division, making the playoffs just once. Last season, the team finished dead-last in the NHL, with just 29 wins in 82 games. The Blue Jackets did not even get the standard consolation prize for league doormat, as the Edmonton Oilers won the draft lottery and the rights to the first pick in the draft. To make matters worse, arguably the Blue Jackets’ only fan-drawing star, Rick Nash, was traded to the New York Rangers in the offseason.
Only other NHL team on the list, the Dallas Stars at 5.

Cleveland Indians at 2

We were probably never going to continue to sell out the arena year after year unless we were a true Cup contender. I would like to see us around that 17k mark again in average attendance.

A team like Anaheim started off with horrible attendance, peaked for about 3 years, then has steadily declined from that point. They still wouldn't have made that list, but just focusing on a single point can give some false impressions. We've had a steady decline since the honeymoon period. However, we did have a bump in attendance last year although I think that was a bit artificial.

You know as well as most of us that if the wins ever come, this will change quickly. Hopefully JD and company can turn this team into a winner, sooner than later.
