I'm kind of getting tired of these 1 point performances... Need to see a breakout game offensively soon!

I'll be happy if he has his breakout with the Habs.

In fairness, I think some fans and media have unrealistic expectations for junior dominance. They keep using that terminology... that they want him to "dominate" junior.

The fact is that the OHL is too good a league to really dominate. Only about the top 2% of players score significantly more than a point a game and even they top out around 1.4 per game or so. Dominance to me entails controlling the flow whenever you're on the ice and looking out of place with clearly inferior talent around you.

As someone who sees roughly 100 OHL games each year, I can say that just doesn't happen. The odd time you see a guy bust out a 5 or 6 point game (usually PP or bad goaltending fuelled), but you almost never see a guy carry a game.

Who are the absolute top end guys? Scheifele, Faksa, Monahan, etc. And yet, each of them has had a number of games where you barely knew they were dressed.
The competition is tough. Gally is doing just fine.

This. This may be the best post in this entire thread.

To add upon this. All the big name players, Scheifele, Monahan, Strome, Faksa, Hamilton, Murphy, Ceci, etc., have all had games where they've been very quiet, and played a full 60 minutes like that. Maybe I'm biased, but there hasn't a game where Galchenyuk hasn't been noticeable for the whole game. Some which very few in the OHL can attest too.

From what I'd consider the OHL's elite and big name players (Scheifele, Monahan, Strome, Faksa, Hamilton, Murphy, Ceci), Galcenyuk is tied for 2nd with the least amount of pointless games. Only behind Strome and tied with Hamilton and Monahan.

Out of all the players from the first round (in CHL) of this years draft, Galchenyuk has been held pointless 2nd least amount of times. I understand that it doesn't mean that much, especially since most players are defenceman.

All Galchenyuk needs is a 5 point night and he's tied for first in OHL scoring.

What is a four point night against one of the best teams in the OHL not enough? It's a shame that game wasn't televised.

But seriously, I want to see Galchenyuk just take over a game and dominate every time he steps on the ice, but Tim Wallach's post is 100% right.

Yeah great post tim, well said, ..people expect way too much of these guys when it comes to junior, and it sure as hell doesnt help that grigorenko is putting up bigtime numbers in the Q but he STILL isnt the number 1 pointer in THAT league

for fun i went and looked at how everyone drafted this past june was doing in their respective leagues (taking point totals only for what its worth), and the only persons point totals who really STAND out within the first couple of rounds are Grigorenko, and Bozon lol ...with galchenyuk having respectable numbers despite the team, even guys like faksa and wilsons numbers are pretty low

I for one am happy with having galchenyuk at all, because some people dont realize players CAN get better AFTER 18, ..its not like you hit a ceiling and peak forever and hope it translates to the NHL, galchenyuk has shown nothing but work ethic and the will and the drive to make it to the nhl, and i think he'll only get better, and better and better as he continues forward, i really really dont care if he doesnt lead the league in scoring, he will continue to work hard, and good things come to those who work as hard as he does, id still pick him over grigorenko, and i love grigorenko and what he can do

You could be worried if it was in the LHJMQ, not in the OHL.

Hope Galchenyuk starts picking it up.

And, yes, a 3rd overall pick should be noticeably dominating in any of the junior leagues.

Lets hope by 25-30th game mark we start seeing that.

How many games have you actually watched? Stop looking at the stat sheet.

1-1. Nice goal for Moore. It's his first.

I'd love to see a Goldobin - Galchenyuk - Moore line.

Sarnia's defence has been terrible so far. As soon as they get touched the puck comes flying off their sticks.
