I would like to see if we can get him too. Anybody who wants to play with Kovy, and can play with him is a good thing. What would we have to trade though? Obviously a D man, maybe D prospect too? Have to send a forward of some kind, and maybe a draft pick too.
If you wanna worry about how long Kovy stays reliable for though, then the minutes have to be decreased. He can not be playing 26 minutes a game, and for the duration of every PK, and PP. He's playing 26 minutes a night, because we have passengers on this team who are either not in good enough shape to take more than 4 minutes worth of shifts a game. Or because they are not competent enough to take more than 4 minute shifts, and really not even competent enough to take less than that.
For anybody who didn't want Marty playing 78 games a year because he crumbled in the playoffs, it's the same with Kovy getting all those minutes. We won't know for sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if the extra wear, and tear contributed to what happened to him during the playoffs.
We don't need an extra D man(Even if one is injured. We have 7 still with Harrold, and he is a solid fill in) and dump the salary too so we can sign Zajac, and Clarkson. We have enough prospects that losing Urbom doesn't hurt. I think he'll hold onto Tedenby until he sees if Zajac, and Clarkson re sign. At that point his value could go up, or he could lose the little tiny bit he has now(Enough if you package him with other guys) and the 3rd they can have.
I think the Coyotes might let him go cheaper than that, because they don't expect him to come back from Russia. We'd also be trading quite a lot for a guy who isn't proven in the NHL yet, even if he is doing well in Russia.
Yeah that would be too much to give up. I just wanna dump a salary pretty much so I could care less if we give up a D man with a no trade clause. I'd rather it be Tallinder. Plus Greene, and Fayne work well together. With The uncertainty of the salary cap, we need to be able to re sign Zajac, and Clarkson. Volchenkov is here until 2016 like it or not. Unless he still wants to go to Ottawa, and they want him back he's going nowhere. Maybe Tallinder, and a 3rd, or Tallinder, and Urbom? I'm not sure if they'll just take the 3rd.
If we offer Tallinder they should give us more than Tikhonov. Bet you Tallinder's value is a lot higher than most of you think. $3.3M for what amounts to a passable top pairing shutdown guy and a great second pairing shutdown guy.

I just wanna shed some salary. If it don't cost us absurd amount to re sign Zajac, and Clarkson than I'm cool with anything. I don't even wanna take on another contract of Tallinder's cap hit (Tikhonov will be lower obviously)
I figure Jordan Staal signed for $6 million a year. Zajac shouldn't be higher than that. Staal didn't go on the market. Zajac on the market will be more than if we get him early. Clarkson I'd like to say $4 million to $4.5 a year. Zubrus should get $2.5 tops if that. $4.5-$5 for Patty sounds good.

I wouldn't go so far as to say he's top pairing calibre, but I agree that Tallinder has more value in trade than some Devils fans give him credit for.

I'd take a good winger prospect in addition, doesn't have to be elite. Just with an NHL trajectory. One of the few prospect pools I'm not too familiar with, though.
Albany needs as much, if not more... a lot more, offensive help as the big club needs.

GM SKA Alex Kasatonov said me: "We'll wait till Nov and if lockout goes on - will sign NHL top-player". My bet - Sid Crosby. #pens
That's a really gutsy move if it's true. With Crosby's injury history, is he really wiling to go to the KHL?
I don't know if you could pay me to play in the KHL, and I'd play in the NHL for $6.38 and a hot meal.

I thought they were only allowed 3 NHL players? Kovy, Bob and Tarasenko
There aren't rules to the KHL...
Remember when they were trying to sign Kovy and Medvedev, the President of the League and a GM (?) was going to change the salary cap rule so they could offer Kovy pretty much a stake in Gazprom?
