Even during a lockout with no hockey I'm provided reminders why I hate Michael Cammalleri

Do the players lose by two touchdowns if the salary cap gets replaced by a luxury tax?

Luxury tax doesn't replace a salary cap. And no way the NHL will go that direction.

Baseball also produces a crapload more revenue than hockey does.

Blake and Cammalleri. Dollar hunters come in all shapes and forms.

Look. I agree with you that Cammalleri is an idiot on this subject. He has always been a huge union guy and has some ridiculous notion that the players are treated like sweat shop workers. There is a large group who thinks this way and MC is among the most vocal.

But it was Dave Taylor who actively pursued Cammalleri after his junior year. Signing him to a rookie max contract and promising him a spot on a line with Deadmarsh and Allison if he would forego his senior season.

This myth about going to the OHL and pulling the Van Ryn rule has been talked about on different Kings messageboards for years and I can tell you with 100% certainty that it is false.

There is not a single owner in MLB losing money. It produces way more revenue in the states.

It's America's past time......That is the only reason Baseball has labor peace... Your Oakland's /KC's are more than happy to accept 30million dollar welfare tax checks to fund their 30 million dollar payroll's.

Hockey can not do that. Thus you have lockouts.

There have been about 4 players on XM referring to themselves as sweat shop workers. Marty Turco was the first to say it. It's probably just a term they are throwing around amongst themeselves. Don Cherry agreed with Turco whole heartedly.

Scott Neidermeyer said it yesterday.

Yeah, not happening. Outside chance if the players give up their guaranteed contracts.

Of course Bettman and the owners have also heard of the NFL, which has a hard cap and no guaranteed contracts. So yeah, the NHLPA could lose this by several TDs.

The NHLPA proposals want revenue sharing almost doubled, going from $140 million to $250 million. Which teams do you think this will come from? They also want guaranteed raises the first year by de-linking salaries from revenue. None of their proposals hit a 50/50 split during their lifespan. They all are based on revenue growing at least 5% each season. How is that possible with less than 82 games this season?

But they're unaware of the quadrillion dollar tv deal MLB has in place that makes even the smallest market profitable. I bet the entire tv revenue for the MLB playoffs eclipses the entire NHL revenue my millions.

Don't bother offering up facts. I had this same argument and they are just going to throw out the "record revenues" stuff and will continue to ignore the fact that the majority of that "record revenue" comes from two markets, and places like Surly and Scribe will blog that the NHL is greedy (sorry guys love the blog, but question the economic knowledge), or talk about the NHL's "billion dollar tv deal" which they never mention is over 20 years, which gives each team approx. 6.6 million a year, which compared to the other leagues is a drop in the bucket.

The NFL Dwarfs any sport other than Soccer in the Euro. In terms of T.V. Money.

The NHL doesn't even sniff that in 20 years.

Darren Dreger is putting Alan Walsh (Player agent) on blast right now on Twitter. Kind of funny. This Walsh, his tweets are ALWAYS super ridiculously against the owners. Obviously he will be being an agent but some of his tweets are just ridiculous.

They had to spend a certain amount under the old CBA.

Other than that, if enough owners start controlling their spending habits, questions start being asked, and words like collusion get thrown around.

The only way owners can control their spending habits is to negotiate it in a CBA. They're trying to spend less on player salaries, and that's why there's no hockey.

Fehr won't even agree to a status quo deal, let alone give anything to the owners. The PA didn't want a cap in either of the previous two lockouts, and you don't hire Donald Fehr for Round 3 if you're not looking for a fight. We'll be lucky if there's NHL hockey in January 2014.

I've been to Niedermayers house in Newport Coast, if he is a sweat shop worker then I quit my current job and I demand to be put to work in said sweat shop.

Yeah - NHLPA members obviously deserve more money than football players - and give them guaranteed contracts as well!!
