Happy. A girl that likes hockey, however misguided in her choice of team, is always preferable to one who doesn't like hockey and therefore can't understand your love of it.

However, there is also this argument to consider:

I dated a flyers fan for the better part of 3 years. It made life interesting.
The "I just watched my team dismantle yours and traded insane **** talk back and forth with you for 3 hours" sex was amazing though. No lie.

It's borderline, but given it included nuts and it's election time - it stands for now.

You only know it's election time because you're in Ohio. If you were in New Jersey, you wouldn't know unless you watched the news. The isolation is wonderful. It's like the difference between living in Belgium or Bolivia during WWII.

Is that why I got some big fold out letter thingy in the mail the other day? Huh, who woulda thunk it.

I've basically turned off the television and radio except to watch the NFL, listen to ESPN radio and watch DVR'd episodes of Boardwalk Empire, Homeland, Gold Rush and American Chopper.

It's a nightmare here [again].

Those are no longer safe either.

Obama + Romney are going to be on MNF next week, and Obama is going to be on MTV tonight.

There is no place to hide.

Shocking right? It makes sense for Obama though, because the audience is very young. And regardless of the decade, very young people statistically vote Democrat.

This makes sense too for a few reasons. You're reaching the audience that shuns all this politics (or tries to!) crap.

BUT, it especially makes sense this year for both candidates because the Eagles are playing.

WARNING: Political demographic dork post commencing........ Democrats always win Pennsylvania, but recent polls have Obama's support there collapsing with him only up 3% to 5% depending on poll. So while it's a longshot for Romney to win PA, trends have been moving to his favor and it's game-set-match if he does, as PA (20ec) is even more important than Ohio (18ec). Where do Democrats run up the score and get the bulk of their votes in PA? Philadelphia and its' suburbs. And as Paul Harvey would say, "now you know the rest of the story".

I just don't want a repeat of that storm from last year, that knocked my power out for a week and a half and downed trees everywhere, crippling the state for days. Rain is fine, snow and heavy wind are not so good.

Connecticut is like that for the presidential race, but the ads for the Senate race here have gotten insane. Both candidates are getting into the mudslinging and personal attacks. Check it out:

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/o...-election.html

I can't even imagine what it's like in Ohio or Virginia where they have to deal with this stuff in multiple races.

Wait, you actually get our ads in NJ? How's that? Are they running them on the NYC stations?

I love how now that the Prez debates have been mentioning "______ wants to send jobs to China", all of my local/state election ads have had attacks that the person ships jobs to China, complete with some xenophobic picture of a few blue collar Chinese people. I'd hate to run for any office nowadays as a brown man.

KEVIN PATEL MIGHT SAY THAT HE'S A "REAL AMERICAN", BUT HE DOESN'T BELIEVE IN REAL AMERICAN VALUES. REAL AMERICAN VALUES LIKE JOB CREATION AND PULLING YOURSELF UP BY YOUR BOOTSTRAPS. AND DID YOU KNOW THAT KEVIN PATEL WAS IN AN AIRPORT WHEN THE TOWERS WENT DOWN? SURE, HE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING, BUT CAN WE AMERICANS REALLY TAKE THAT CHANCE? (cue picture of uprising in Egypt) MARK SMITH IS A REAL AMERICAN YOU CAN COUNT ON. *this message paid for by Families for a Brighter Future*

I get a ton of CT/RI ads by me typically.
You get a lot of that in the NY metro area because of the amount of commuters.

Yeah. WWE whats-her-face seems to be a good chunk of them, so of course the competition has to be balanced.
