I'm not sure that's the season either. Though if they do cancel this week, then you wonder if there's an incentive? There should have been an incentive to get a deal done in November at the latest. Won't they(The players) lose more money by cancelling more than two months of the season, then if they started in November on the deal the NHL gave them just now?
They need to cancel those silly breaks to squeeze in games if it comes down to that. Also, don't care. Maybe the players will quit being *****es finally

I don't think the season will necessarily be entirely canceled if the Classic is, but we're moving closer to that possibility now. 82 games is no longer possible.
Depending on how this all ends, and this might be an unpopular opinion, but..
If there is some part of this season salvaged, they might be better off without trying to force in some happy go lucky, feel good events like the ASG and WC.
A lot of bad feelings hovering around and a rabid fanbase that would have a hard time drawing up interest/appreciation for either event.
It might be best to shelve them, plod through a shortened season and try to find a way to get back on better grounding for 2013-2014.

The All Star Game is unpopular anyway. I would support an effort to get rid of it even if we had a full season. The league makes money off it, but otherwise the game is meaningless.
Agreed, the fantasy draft is probably the only real draw of the ASG at this point... and that novelty will even wear off pretty quickly.
But, in terms of the WC... even if these negotiations get patched up in the next week, is there anybody (fans, players, owners) who'd find it in them to get all rah-rah in support of it by the time New Years comes around?

All star game is a joke. I watched parts of it for the first time since the late 90s this year. I was kinda glad our guys got snubbed, and didn't play. Our team came back rested, and kicking ass too after it was over.

If the Classic gets canceled, what's the incentive for the owners to budge 'at all' until next Summer? The Classic makes a ton of money for them, not the players. For a deal to be done after that, the players would have to totally cave and I don't see Fehr doing that.
Obviously the cancellation of the Classic doesn't immediately mean the cancellation of the season. What I meant is that once the Classic is done, a solid % of revenue is gone and it's pretty much the tipping point. There's no more incentive to meet a deadline.
The season isn't officially over but it might as well be. A few more PR offers, but it's not going to lead to an agreement. Pathetic effort from both sides. I'm kind of curious to see how much money is lost with the cancellation of a full season vs. the amount of money the two are arguing over.
I've grown pessimistic now, and I'm an optimist in just about everything. I think that one of the main reasons the owners were willing to go to 50% was to save an 82 game season. Now that that option is gone, I don't think they'll be willing to give the players that much anymore, which means both sides are going to play chicken until the season gets canceled.
Were we seriously in on Roy last season? I'm glad we didn't trade for him and we don't have the POS locked up for this year(If there is one) on a close to what? $4 million cap hit?
