Well, people are being "cavalier" in this particular thread because the OP loathes Bergeron and made an inane statement.
But, as I've noted before, these guys are professional athletes and sometimes they're going to get hurt, whether they're in Switzerland or Charlestown.
Injuries happen, no matter what. It's a hazard of living, and of playing pro sports.
Point being if Tyler Seguin gets knocked out for the year in Switzerland, the NHLPA/League settle and it costs the Bruins a shot at the Cup/play-offs..

As opposed to Tyler Seguin sits at home going for the occassional skate and tears a groin in a condensed NHL season due to improper game conditioning and costs the B's a shot at the Cup/Play-offs?
Thx Artemis, these players could just as easily be injured in NA too. I have absolutely no clue why I find it easier to accept injury while in their NHL jerseys as opposed to the Nascar one`s they wear over there??
If you are going to state something like this then you should provide some shred of proof.
While I hate to back up the OP given his hate for Bergeron - Here is Bergeron's injury history.
2011/05/19 Missed 2 playoff games (mild concussion).
2010/03/06 Missed 2 games (groin).
2010/01/18 Missed 6 games (broken right thumb).
2009/04/16 Missed 2 games (right foot injury).
2009/01/27 Missed 15 games (concussion).
2008/04/21 Missed the last 72 games of the regular season and 7 playoffs games (concussion).
2007/02/24 Missed 5 games (lower body injury).
2004/03/23 Missed 11 games (shoulder injury).
Not listed:
2011-12 Season - Injury last playoffs (torn rib cage? - 0 games missed) that probably cost the B's at least a 2nd round appearance.
2012-13 Season - Current injury (Hand? - 2 games)
Only in 05-06 (and maybe the lockout year) did Bergeron not miss games to injury.
People go overboard for Rask missing 2 periods and only 23 games since 03-04 - yet no one is concerned about Bergeron who has the far worse injury history including the multiple concussion issue, which is far more likely to end a career.
Obviously good that this isn't concussion related but let's not downplay Bergeron's history while freaking out about Rask's.

That's not really a bad injury record apart from the concussions. Not sure I follow your train of thought. A handful of missed games here and there does not constitute an injury problem. When a player regularly misses 10-20-30 game chunks you start to worry.
The concussions are worrying, yes, but they need to be separated from the "wear and tear" injuries, which Bergy does not seem to suffer a lot from. At least not in terms of missing games.

Yeah - apart from the concussions. No big deal there.
My train of thought and point is that Rask is skewered for missing 2 periods and yet no one is worried about Bergeron at all when he has a much worse injury history. Just pointing out the idiocy of the board. Bergeron can never do wrong, while others are hated upon.
I'm not stating that Bergeron is injury prone at all but there is evidence that he misses games almost every season with a couple of serious injuries to boot. I'm sure he would have missed a few games had his injury last year not been in the playoffs and he certainly wasn't himself despite not missing those games last year.

Ah, alright. Didn't follow the Tuukka thread, so I missed that reference and can't really comment on it.
Still, I'm at the point where I pretty much exclude concussions from the term injury prone, as they are a separate animal altogether. If you've had a couple, or one major, that's an issue in itself.
If I think injury prone, I think guys like Hemsky or Havlat or Gaborik that regularly miss 20-30 games a season (don't pull me up on any of those, just a feeling). I certainly wouldn't put Bergy in that bracket.

People shouldn't freak out about either of them. Bergeron's injury history is pretty much normal for an NHL player, and so is Rask's.
There's a wonderful page or two in George Plimpton's "Paper Lion." in which the players discuss injuries in the wake of the author dislocating his thumb. "Superficial," is the way they refer to some cringe-inducing injuries, including Plimpton's. I'll have to look it up when I get a chance (at work now).
