It's a freemium based tank game (specifically World War 2) mae by a bunch of Russians (or Belarusian to be more specific).
Gameplay wise, it's okay as long as you accept you're going to be playing with 13 year old idiots who don't really care about anything. To reach the top level of each nationality, you have to grind, so it tests your enjoyment of grinding your way through the game.
I remember I played once at PAX East just to try it and somebody was flipping out at me because I accidentally drove in front of his shot.
I was trying to get my brother to play after I played it but he soon had a baby and doesn't have much time to play any games, never mind learn a new game and grind through it. I never ended up installing it myself.
So I'd like to bump this thread up to congratulate WarGaming on winning the 2012 Golden Joystick Awards for Best MMO (beating out such illustrious competition as League of Legends and Star Wars: The Old Republic). Still the best online game I've ever played.
I was playing quite a bit a month ago. There was still a two tier spread at times. Every so often, three tier spread, but that's usually because tank companies are screwing things up with their composition.
You can buy gold ammo with silver now(I think it's like 2000 a round).
I think it's enjoyable myself(though sometimes, you're on a huge losing streak it seems), but I'm trying to get going at Starcraft II right now.
I think if you found a good clan to play with, or get a bunch of friends together, it would be amazing to play. Never got that far though.
Edit: Will probably play it off and on until something better comes along. Definitely fun gameplay.
I think I downloaded this but never got around to playing it.
I used to play Battleground Europe for my WWII MMO fix, wanted to try out WoT because it seemed like it'd be more action and less... well, less running, waiting, and dying after several hours of the first two.

That's about where I'm at, and I'm terrible. I saw an AMX ELC and they look like too much fun to pass up. So I'm torturing myself by going through the french tree at the moment. There's a reason they got run over by the Germans...
I get really tired of the matchmaker putting you in games where you can't penetrate 95% of the stuff on the field. I feel like if they fixed this, the game would be a lot more popular. Maybe double the amount of tiers, and narrow the bands to be more tank specific. My AMX 40 doesn't belong in a game with a KV-1 or KV-2.
That's true; though, to be honest, it doesn't belong anywhere.
Getting a kill with it is absolutely priceless. I can only imagine the expression on their face when the kill cam shows they met their end at the hands of the duck tank. Now I know why ELC drivers play with so much pent up rage. The grind to get there is absolutely awful. Wargaming has shown a willingness to dumb down tanks that were historically good for the sake of balance. Why can't they pump the tires of the AMX40 a bit so that it's tolerable? It literally has no redeeming qualities. Armor sucks, gun sucks, radio sucks, engine sucks, it's huge for a light tank. If I could somehow get out of the tank, and climb onto others to throw a grenade down the hatch, I would.
My PZ III/IV with its lolbad 75mm cannon is a miracle worker compared to the AMX40.
I am also keenly aware that I suck at this game. It's fun just to play for the sake of some laughs. I sure do ram people a lot, or run straight through enemy lines to distract them. Just having fun grinding towards the ELC, which is a troll tank, and the Tiger I, which can actually hold its own.

Oh god, not at all. There's nothing outstanding whatsoever about the poor Tiger - and it has absolutely Russian/Chinese/French levels of gun depression. I'm completely hating the Tiger grind at the moment (but that delicious E-75...).
