Miller looks good (at least on offense)

Haven't seen much of Kreider, not sure if he's getting less icetime or his line has struggled

I agree, Miller is looking great so far.

Kreider looks like he's getting 3rd line minutes at best and his line is horrible defensively. They spend all their time pinned in the defensive zone

Miller injured. Hopefully just gave him a dead leg, but he could barely stand after blocking that shot.

jesus Gilroy was all over the place on that goal (though I don't know if his partner should have picked up the guy to Talbot's right)

e: or i guess that was a save, hard to tell from the feed and my sound is off

Solid victory!

Offense has a whole was solid. Thought Miller made a few mistakes but he was our best forward. It's early in the season and he looked better tonight, but I'm really disappointed in a player as talented as Thomas having such a difficult transition to the pros. He's not a prototypical smallish forward either, he's ****ing fast and has a stocky build. Kreider was so-so, he didn't get a lot of ice time and I've stressed hundreds of times that playing him with guys like Yogan, who also thrive in a support role, isn't the right environment. Jean was quiet, as were Bourque and Hrivik. Overall nobody stood out as bad though. When guys like Thomas, Yogan, Miller and Kreider get more comfortable, and Bourque and Hrivik hit their stride, the Whale will have a good offense.

Can't comment on individual defensemen, because quite frankly I can't tell them apart. They all skate well and move the puck smoothly, but make questionable decisions on the regular (Blake Parlett is a very dumb player). However they did good tonight, so hats off.

Talbot was great.

Make it 3 tomorrow boys!

Thoughts about the just completed Whale game:

1. Miller is getting more and more confidence and tonight, he was the best Whale player on the ice. Goes to the net well and can go into the traffic areas and come away with the puck. Very impressive.

2. Newbury had a terrible game. He was a non-factor on Wednesday too.

3. Kreider was not on one of the top two lines, but seemed to work well with Bourque when they were together. Expect him to move up tomorrow.

4. Without Tessier, the team does not have a consistent face off man. Really showed at the end of the game when Yogan was called upon to take a crucial own zone face off and lost it.

5. The D was not good at all tonight. Gilroy is the number one guy and his work in his own zone was as I remembered.

The team is a work in progress and while several in the Rangers organization told me that Connecticut would be offensively challenged, I think the bigger issue is defense.

Guess they were counting on the AHL vets + McIlrath + Redden = solid defense?

Wasn't Newbury benched for most of Wednesday's game after mouthing off to the refs?

Yeah... I should have specified. My buddy is a salesman for sleepys... no weird craigslist transaction.

Was great to get to my first game of the season tonight. I love the group of forwards. Second period was more boring than the first, where the Whale forwards were jumping on every loose puck. Really impressive. They stayed disciplined most of the game, which was nice. Defense needs some work. Not worried one bit about the offense. And it was encouraging as heck to see Talbot play the way he did.

Last night, Parlett had a terrible game. The problem is that its not clear that he has the ability to do that much better. Still a chance though.

Justin Schultz is really making the AHL his *****. Granted he's playing on a stacked OKCB team, but his early stats are incredible for a d-man.

6 games, 4 goals, 6 assists.

Edmonton got real lucky here.
