I only care about this because if it happened then it would open the door that much wider to the possibility of Seattle getting an NHL franchise. The Maloofs are goofs anyhow and ought to be forced to sell--be it to Seattle or someone else. Here's hoping Stern can make it happen.

Stern could use the promise of a discounted expansion team in the location of the Maloofs choosing (Anaheim possibly) as a 'carrot'. I'm sure he also has a 'stick' or two he could use to motivate the Maloofs, including possibly calling in the loans the NBA has made to the Maloofs.

I don't think Hansen is going to spend $200 million building an arena and not own the team in it.

Yeah the Maloofs are probably the poster oys for self sabotaging Ana arena deal. Hope they sell, let the dominoes start to fall.

Legally per agreement Maloofs can't own the team and move the team to Seattle themselves. They already have too much collateral on the team more than what the seattle arena agreement allows. If the Kings move to Seattle, Maloofs have to sell.

heh.... would be a weird double take if true to see Sonics fans used to hating Stern potentially having to like him if he really is going gung-ho on moving a team back there....

He won't be commissioner by the time the team has moved to Seattle since the agreement still has that 2nd vote post EIS.
