Ceci: 4.5 yellow stars... probably a bit too high for him, but that's okay with me.
Lehner: It was either 4 or 4.5 yellow stars. I don't remember, but he should actually become a good goalie this time.

I also have Shinkaruk, who for some reason, is only 66 overall instead of his usual 75 or 76. That's fine though, as long as he doesn't take four years to develop.

This makes me really want to go play! I'll probably update on my second season later today.
I hate how they only have Silfverberg has a 62 overall, the guy was the BEST player in the SEL and yet doesn't have the best overall from that league...

They failed with Lehner growth, last year I could get Lehner up into the 90s, which in my opinion is what he will be in real life one day. This year you have to give your prospects the best playing time to make their overall jump the highest but I played Lehner in years 1, 2 and 3 and he couldn't even get into the 80s. When I start another GM with Ottawa, I will make sure the edit guys like Lehner, Zib, Silfverberg, Cowen(caps out at 83ish), Bishop, Puempel, Noesen, Boroweiki and Wierchioch. And create F. Claessen who isn't in the game cause he's team got demoted from the SEL.

Don't remember the others off the top of my head, but Murray and Nyquist usually become scary good. Traded for Murray in one of my GMs, and he jumped to 80 overall after one year, 86 overall after 2. Nyquist after 2 years usually, on my games, gets into the low 80s and then works his way up to being a 1st liner.

Ottawa Senators Year 2 Report

Well that was a pleasant surprise... my game froze near the end of the season and we had missed the playoffs... I had to go back to the all star break and this time we made the playoffs as the sixth seed with 91 points.

At the beginning of the year I traded Latendresse, Phillips, and a 2016 1st for Perron, Jackman and a 3rd. Turned out to be a pretty good trade. Jackman is the same player as Phillips but younger. Perron had 58 points for me while Latendresse only had 31 with St Louis.

Silfverberg imrpoved upon last year with 56 points, Panik had 46 points as a rookie (25 goals), and Turris set a career-high with 54 points. He better improve in the offseason! EK had 48 points, which was an improvement over last season.

My goalies weren't the best though. Here are their stats:
Anderson - 19 W, 14 L, 2.40 GAA, .922%
Engren - 22 W, 18 L, 2.60 GAA, .917%

In the first round of the playoffs we played Florida, but lost in six games...

Game 1: 4-1 Win
Game 2: 4-2 Loss
Game 3: 3-1 Win
Game 4: 6-1 Loss
Game 5: 4-3 Loss
Game 6: 2-0 Loss

In a little bit I'll post my lineup for next season and how my prospects improved!

Mark Borowiecki: 71 - 78 (awesome)
Hunter Shinkaruk: 66 - 76 (awesome)
Matt Puempel: 71 - 78 (surprising, yet awesome)

Fucale usually turns out good. Jacob Riley is another who becomes a monster sometimes.

Murray Resigns; Byrne Hired

Shocking announcement comes 1 day before season opener

Chris Byrne, new Ottawa Senators GM.

1 day before the start of the 2012-2013 season, the Ottawa Senators had some shocking news. Bryan Murray scheduled a press conference to announce he is resigning from his seat as General Manager. He will stay with the organization in front office.

"I have chosen to step down for personal reasons" Murray said. "However, I am not leaving for good, as I'm staying in front office".

Who's replacing him? You don't have to look far for him. Ottawa 67's coach-GM Chris Byrne will be taking Murray's vacant position. Byrne is a surprising choice, as more experienced options were available.

"I'm honored" Byrne said. "I've been around Ottawa with the OHL team for awhile now, so that's a plus. I will be sure to bring playoff hockey to Ottawa, and that's a promise".

Byrne had been the 67s' coach and general manager for a couple years. Last season, he led them to round 3 of the OHL playoffs.

"I will be sure to bring playoff hockey to Ottawa, and that's a promise." - Chris Byrne, Senators GM

The Senators begin their regular season tomorrow night, against the rival Montreal Canadiens. The Sens' lines are as follows:

Forwards
Michalek - Spezza - Alfredsson
Silfverberg - Turris - Latendresse
Greening - Smith - Condra
Winchester - O'Brien - Neil

Defencemen
Methot - Karlsson
Cowen - Gonchar
Phillips - Gilroy

Goalies
Anderson
Bishop

Put Shinkaruk on the 1st line and I will guarantee you that he will hit 84 overall next year

I would, but the only issue is that I don't want to play Silfverberg or Perron on the third line... In the offseason I think Michalek is UFA, so that should open up a spot for Shinkaruk. He's on the top line in the AHL with Zibby and Puempel this year. That line should be magic.

Shinkaruk is one of those players who turns out amazingly well no matter what you do with him. I kept him in juniors for 2 whole years, and he still jumped to 76 in year one and 85 in year two.

Good to hear. I'm going to have a beastly team next season. At least, if Robin Lehner finally becomes NHL ready. Goaltending and offense were our biggest issues last year, and every part of my team has improved except for goaltending.

Trade away Backstrom for a younger goalie because he is only on the decline, and maybe trade away Martin

Which players in the 2013 draft are the best to take outside of the top 10? I know Dumba takes a while to develop but turns out decently. Thrower was another that makes it into the mid-80's. Any of the forwards turn out?

You think Backstrom for a guy like John Gibson, 61 ovr 4.5 star potential would be a good trade, or should I try and get an already established young goalie?

Brought up Sullivan, Tinordi, Mrazek full time this year. Signed Tyrell, Burrows, Ott, Grossman, and Kindl this off season. Then traded OEL (who dropped to a 83 because of injuries) for Thorton. The rest were either trades earlier in my dynasty or free agent signings earlier.

Some notes after 8 games played

Mrazek 4gp 3-1-0 0.98 GAA .957SV%
Abdelkader 3g 3a 6p on the 4th line (I played one game with him getting only 8minutes of ice time and scored 1 goal and assisted on two others, we won 3-1)
