Jakub played with weinhandl but he didn't have a good game. It's a too big step for him right now. Coach didnt play him in the 3rd basically. It was a reality check. He will prob be back with the juniors for a while now. Its prob the best for him too..

Vrana played his second game with the mens team yesterday and his TOI was 7 minutes. Didn't see the game so don't know how he looked but nice to see him get another call up.

A handful of games now in SEL and he's improved for every game, looks promising for next couple of years... At this pace he's a lock for 1st round pick.

Vrána has been very up and down in the Swedish Elite League, but I'm still impressed by the kid. He doesn't play like a 16-year-old. Tries to challenge his opponents and is always ready to shoot. Wouldn't be surprised if he makes the cut, Přerost seems to be very fond of him.

What amazes me most is that I had a chance to talk with him at the U-18 last spring and he was really quite a small little fella. Surely he's very much in the most important growing phase of his life, but he had a bit of thin frame and certainly wasn't very tall (I'm 5'11" and he we were not at eye level).

As such, one has to think that when skating in the SEL, he's up against men who are simply much better, stronger physical specimens at this juncture. Quite impressive that he's even gotten some time with the big boys.

I don't know how much it'll continue though. The team recently picked up Lee Goren and Patrik Zackrisson is about to come off the injury list, so forward corps will be beefing up again as both of these players are the types of guys who'd get 13-20 minutes of ice time per game.

Can't wait to see how Vrana looks at the WJC, however, we shouldn't forget that, for example, most of team Sweden features players who are seeing regular ice time in the SEL, Allsvenskan, Canadian Juniors, or even in the AHL. I fully expect the Swedes to be one of the tourney's top 3 clubs, but that belongs in the 'No duh' category.:-)

I guess he must have grown over the summer, since he's listed as 5'11'', 183 lbs now. ^^

This interview was done less than two months ago:

For Vrana it would be perfect to play with Tomas Hertl and Dmitrij Jaskin at the upcoming U20 WCH, because only those two players (perhaps with Radek Faksa) will probably be able to make some pressure in the offensive zone against teams like Sweden or Finland. Especially with Hertl they could do a good job. Hertl is excellent one-to-one, reads the game well, but is much better passer than scorer and lacks some skating agressivity. Vrana on the other hand has a very good shot and skating "drive." They could work well together. Somewhere in 4th line, Vrana would spend much of his time in the Czech team's own zone and without the puck.
But we will see, perhaps whole team will make some serious surprise (but as I see the roster, it's going to be a baptism by fire for them all).

According to the local newspaper, Vrana is about to sign his first contract with the big guys. No further information such as length or anything.

Watching Vrana at the U-18, he's amazing. Great hands, really smart.
