Nick Cousins
  • He was charged with sexual assault in August ( http://articles.philly.com/2012-08-2...sins-sault-ste ).
  • He was reinstated by the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds (OHL) after completing 10-day counseling programs.
  • He had a November 5 court hearing, originally slated for October 1.
  • The November 5 update is in post #146. The next court date is January 14, 2013.

http://www.saultstar.com/2012/10/24/...-series-roster

Quote:
The two most obvious Hounds who could have been contenders for the Super Series team are Cousins, who is ranked third in the league for scoring, and Nurse, a second-year defenceman who was listed as an ‘A’ skater last month on NHL Central Scouting’s Players to Watch list for the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

In fact, of the 10 centres chosen to play in the two games, only Barrie’s Mark Scheifele (7-13-20) has more points than Cousins (7-12-19). Belleville Bulls centre Brendan Gaunce, who was chosen to suit up in Guelph, is tied for 74th in league scoring with four goals and nine points. The Hounds are one of just two teams not represented in the Series, the other being the Kingston Frontenacs.

Dubas said he does not know why the selection committee passed the Soo players over, referring those questions to those who made the decision. Dubas said he doesn’t know if the criminal charge Cousins faces played a role in the 19-year-old Belleville, Ont. native not being selected.

“I’m not sure,” said Dubas. “He was on the team last year, and he’s not this year and he’s having a pretty good year.”

Cousins, who signed an entry-level contract with the Philadelphia Flyers in March, is one of three Soo Greyhounds facing sexual assault charges. Police say the alleged incident, involving a woman, occurred Aug. 24 at a central-area Sault Ste. Marie residence.

Hate to say it, but he'll probably get 10. The OHL just threw the book at Craig Hottot of Sarnia and he got 10. I think Laughton may have cost himself an invite to the WJC training camp in December because of this.....

Noebels getting alot of love recently. Main article about him on the Flyers website, and is talked briefly in the NBC Sports article about how the Flyers fans season ticket holders can go to Titans games with weekend for free.

Good read: http://flyers.nhl.com/club/news.htm?...id=DL|PHI|home

It's official. Laughton got 10 games. What a stupid, selfish act. I get it that he plays on the edge, but there was no need for that hit. It was cheap and dirty and there's no need for those type of hits. He blind sided the guy and he raised his elbow at the last second too. He's lucky he didn't get 20 or more. Good job Scott, you just cost yourself an invite to the WJC camp this year. So mad about this. I expect that kind of hit from a cement head, but not a gritty skilled player. Just stupid.

Here's the OHL's press release:

It's really not that big of a deal. He went for a hit and got the guy's head. He gets 10 games, comes back and picks up where he left off. This really doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Phantoms getting pretty much dominated right now. Only 1-0 Albany, but with 7 minutes left we only have 1 shot on goal.

They are getting absolutely dominated. Can't do anything in the offensive zone

Why did Gustafsson and Rinaldo switch numbers? If gustafsson wanted 36, he could have taken it after Powe left..

and 3-1 devils

Phantoms down 5-1 7 minutes left.

just a brutal effort.

cant imagine Flyer management are thrilled with the level of play from Schenn and Couturier. going on 4 games pointless for both

You know a team is struggling when Zac Rinaldo has been your chief offensive threat.

Titans win, 4-1. Goals by Pither, Akeson, Grimshaw, and McKelvie.

Hovinen is back practicing, about a week away from starting. Unfortunately for him, Wedgewood is playing very well. But with the crazy minor league schedule, no doubt they'll both get plenty of time.

Adirondack is clearly where prospects go to die.

Honestly, I can't wait until the Phantoms move back to Philly region.

Schenn had 2 points the other day against St Johns.

Sounds like Tye McGinn jumps Nick Tarnasky after a dirty play on Syvret. Phantoms down 4-1. Goal by Zolnierczyk
