That is incorrect.

He received 2 minutes for Crosschecking (or slashing, i cant remember), 2 minutes for mouthing off to the referee, and an additional 10 minute misconduct for continuing to mouth off to the referee.

Head Coach Ken Gernander then sent a message to him and the other players saying that will not be tolerated, and benched him the rest of the game.

Torts is in the house with Sully right? I think Jim tweeted it. I just woke up life of a poker player.

6-3 now. These kids are reminding me of the Flyers... Not sure if that's a good thing

I'm just glad CK has the turkey off his back. Good experience for him before his NHL career starts for good. Step has even more maturity than CK and when Step gets in a rut, it's not fun stuff. CK has way more speed and skill but still very much susceptible to ruts so the slow start to his season + the suspension should help

Saw a bit of the 3rd period after it was 6-3. Overall impression: D is shaky, but Talbot is good. (Surprisingly so.)

Hard to judge the forwards given it was about 10 minutes and they had a 3 goal lead halfway through the 3rd.

Kyle Jean is really impressive out there. Just wish he could actually win a draw at the faceoff dot.

You'd think something as strategical and systematic as face off draws can be practiced and improved upon through learning but looking at most of our team, that doesn't appear to be the case

So, Whale are back to an even record of 3-3-1 after 7 games.

I agree with some posters, the defense is (very) suspect and shaky. In goal, Cam Talbot is the man, period. Love the forwards, especially the young guns, very exciting to watch!

Eye-openers so far: Kyle Jean, JT Miller
Overachievers so far: Gilroy, Segal
As advertised so far: Newbury, Talbot, Kolarik
Underachievers so far: Tessier, Hrivik, Haley, the entire defense
Coming-out-of-the-closet so far: Tommy Grant
The Redden so far: Blake Parlett (for his 392182 minor penalties every game)

While the lockout blows, the idea of having the AHL season start before NHL camps begin is intriguing. Gives younger players a better chance to make the jump as they can work on stuff for a few weeks at a level that's above juniors/NCAA but below NHL. I don't think junior teams would allow this, but it would be great for some of these prospects to have nearly a month to get some pro action in before they get a shot or go back to juniors.

But then those bubble players in the AHL cannot partake in the NHL training camps and the coaching staffs can't get a good look at them and how they mix/gel with the guys already on the NHL roster...

actually, they would be. the bubble guys would go up to the big club for training camp. but there's the issue of filling the ahl squad until big club camp closes and rosters are set. so, no idea if that's solvable. probably not. just like the idea of the bubble guys getting used to pros right before camp starts so they can go through adjustments before they need to hit the ground running at the nhl camp. i suppose that's the point of the rookie camps earlier in the summer and traverse city tourney, but the competition at those don't feel like pro-level but like junior all-star games.

any chance NYR signs him? seems to still be young, maybe another Prust. Prust didnt really make it as a full time player till he came to NYR...

Great to see the Whale playing so well now, especially with Talbot back in the lineup.

They've scored what, 14 goals in the last 3 games? Not bad, not bad at all.

edit - also nice to see Kreider pop in his first, hopefully that gets him going. His assist yesterday night was a thing of beauty, finished by Bourque who shot a quick lazer top corner.
