as the NHL dosnt seem to be gettting its act together this will be my first crack at a squad.
Huberdeau - RNH - Rattie
Hudon - Scheifele - Di Giuseppe
Monahan - Strome - St. Croix
Danualt - Jenner - McNeil
Shinkaruk
HM: Lessio
Hamilton - Murray
Murphy - Harrington
Ouellet - Ceci
Rielly

From his interview on the Pipeline Show, it already sounds like Hockey Canada and Prendergast are pretty resigned to not getting RNH going forward. Sounds like they've been making their lists and prep without including him and if by some chance they get him out of OKC it willl be viewed as a super bonus. Said he hasn't even attempted contacting the Oilers about it yet, pretty weird when the camp is six weeks away.
I would be willing to bet the farm that Ryan Murphy makes it.
Murphy plays for Steve Spott in Kitchener.
Spott is the head coach for Canada.
Matt Puempel plays for Spott as well and this is his last year to make the World Juniors.
Probably to both and they will play pretty featured roles, Gallagher last year, Cizikas the year before and then Simmonds and Josh Godfrey when Hartsburg was coach. Coaches want guys they are comfortable with and can trust in a short tournament.

Hudon is injured, not sure when he'll return... I know he has experience in the CANRUS, but there's several Q players I'd take over Hudon, one of which would be Mackinnon... I'd much rather have him than Hudon...
Ryan Strome - Jonathan Huberdeau - Ty Rattie
Matt Puempel - Mark Scheifele - Nathan MacKinnon
Charles Hudon - Sean Monahan - Phil DiGiuseppe
Phillip Danault - Boone Jenner - Tom Wilson
RSVS: Michael St.Croix and Lucas Lessio
I would say McNeill and Griffith fight for a spot but just miss out. Shinkaruk and Drouin will also be final cuts.
Ryan Murray - Dougie Hamilton
Morgan Rielly - Scott Harrington
Ryan Murphy - Matt Dumba
RSVS: Cody Ceci and Griffin Reinhart
O.K. Ouellet should be there, but over who? All 9 guys deserve a spot but they cant all be there.

I also assumed Hockey Canada wont let Nugent-Hopkins play. He would dominate.
I also believe Ouellet should be on the team and id say he would make it over Dumba, nothing against Dumba but i think he comes 3rd between Murphy and Rielly, they dont need another pp/offensive d man. Oullet seems to be very much a poor mans Hamilton
If any goalie from the Q is going to get consideration for this team, it will be Etienne Marcoux BLB. He's the consensus top goalie from the Q and has good stats so far, despite missing a few games. Fucale is for down the road, Marcoux is better suited for this season over Fucale.

For this season, Ouellet should be there over Dumba, Ceci and probably Reinhart. It doesnt mean hes a better prospect but he fits the needs of that line up a lot more. He's also a year ahead so his game is more polished. I seriously doubt the best dman in the Q doesnt make it. His team is ranked top 5 in the country and hes the MVP and captain
Hes more of a shut down type player, and might be one of the best defensive guys on the team but as a seventh he could also play the PP if he had to because hes no slouch offensively. In the defensive zone Harrington and Murray might be the only guy on that team better than him and theyre still close (him and Harrington) except Ouellet has some offensive punch as well. Theres a reason Ouellet was being matched with Yakupov in the OT and shut him down. He and Harrington are going to be the shut down pairing I'm pretty happy to bet a lot on that as well
And if RNH is available he'll play, it wont be because Canada doesnt let him
I think RNH would want to play as well. I think he'd rather suit up for his country than play some regular season AHL games in Oklahoma. Is it the Oilers choice?

Why is it weird? If I was the oilers I wouldnt want to pull my teams first line center in the middle of the season to go play against weaker competition. Keep building chemistry with Schultz, Eb, Harti etc and getting ready for the NHL over chasing a medal at a junior tournament when you already 2 leagues above that level of play

I can't believe somebody would even write that, holy smokes! Well, if that's the case we may as well leave Crosby off the Olympic team, for fear he might dominate. Malkin can stay home as well, I'm sure the Russians are worried he might dominate.. Hell, Yakupov shouldn't play as well this year, he just might dominate the tournament...

It maybe be weaker competition, but its more pressure-filled games. Especially seeing that one year has already been wasted out of RNH's ELC playing in unimportant games for much of last season, I'd say itd be more beneficial for the oilers.

If the lockout is still going strong in December, I am pretty sure the Oilers will let him go. It might be a different story if he'd played in the WJC before. Hockey Canada might also have to live with him not going to the camp.
I imagine Hockey Canada isn't banking on him being there because they expect the lockout to end before late December.

Ouellet is better than Murphy, Dumba and Rielly defensivly. Offensivly, he's better than Harrington. All-around he's the 3rd best defencemen on the team. As for the goalies, Marcoux would be a better choice than Fucale
How about Catenacci from owen sound, has put up decent numbers and a respectable two way game all throughout is time in the ohl. Also very quick if there is a bigger ice this year? (is there??) .

He's good but there are much better options for both scoring roles and checking roles.
