Couldn't the same be said about OV? First handful of seasons he took the NHL by storm. Last couple he has been a shadow of his former self.
Could be many factors as to why, but one clear reason is defensemen have figured out how to play him. It took a while, but they did. Griffin can follow that same path. Have to wait and see.
I think Griffin is versatile enough to adapt to what is thrown at him, but it will take 2-3 years before we know for sure.
Well as far as Ovechkin goes I think his downfall has not been related to "other teams figuring him out" as most pundits would believe. Again you have to remember something...I'm right like 99.5% of the time.
The problem with Ovechkin is that he lost energy and more than anything his release on his shot is nowhere near as quick as it used to be. Thats why it gets blocked all the time now. Overall it has everything to do with him. And lets face it...he got drawn into the rockstar life and that changed his attitude and passion.
I don't see that happening to RGIII at all. Not a chance.
But lets look at other players too...like Michael Jordan, super Mario, Gretzky, etc. They came in with hype, dominated and turned out as projected or maybe even better in the end.
is there anyone here who believes our Oline and receivers are not in the bottom half of the league in terms of awesomenes? Especially without Garcon and Davis our pass catchers probably don't start on very many teams.
I didn't say he is a HOFer right now. I said he is the best player in the league. There is a difference in that view. To be a HOFer you need a body of work. To be the best player in the league you have to currently be the best player in the league. IMO he is.
Griffin is pretty good. The loss is on the receivers today, and the defense. Neither showed up.
It's amazing how much different this team would be with the proper tools. Hopefully they will be able to surround him with healthy talent that can actually see the field, in the near future.
Worst pass dropping performance of any team in the NFL all year.
Get MeAngelo off this team.

George McPhee....The Teflon GM. 15 years of failure and counting....
6 - Number of playoff series the Capitals have won since George McPhee took over as General Manager in 1997 (which makes him the third-longest-tenured GM in the League), three of which came in McPhee's first season on the job.
The Cowboys pretty much equal the Redskins in terms of mediocrity the last 15 years. Simply said, each team finds ways to lose.
Today it was dropped balls. More evidence that no matter how good Griffin is, and he wasn't that spectacular today, this team still needs lots and lots of help. Today was one of those games that shows a team with a decent defense can contain Griffin to a point. Someone else said the same thing but each game he plays, defenses will adapt more to stopping him, especially with few other real playmakers around him.
Unfortunately with the cap penalty next year and limited draft picks, there's not going to be a lot added to make things better, even if people want to keep pretending this is some kind of massive rebuild. This offseason the big free agent haul was wide receivers. Well next time let's get some that can catch. Shanahan's drafts have been ok, but his free agent pickups have been mostly swings and misses.
Nice to see Shanahan losing his cool again and barking & raging at the refs most of the fourth quarter, just like in St. Louis. And just like in that game, one of his players follows his example and acts like an idiot. Sure Mike, it's all the refs. Nice to see the guys showing some professional pride.
