Starting year 6 with Ottawa, had a good season(101 points good for 4th) but lost in the first round to Montreal(5th, 100 points). Was pretty mad cause I wanted to get to atleast the conference finals this year. Traded Turris(85) and Ristalainen(87) for Ryan Murray(90) and A. Kostinen(83). Then I signed Lethonen(85) just for future trading piece. The day before the 2017-18 season opener Detroit offered me Bystrom(84 D, with 4 and 1/2 stars)and a mid 80 D for Lethonen and a 1st. Since Lethonen cost me nothing and I expect to make it far in the SC playoffs and accepted the trade. Now my lines are:

Koristin(86)-Mackinnon(87)-Voracek(88)
Kostitsyn-Reinhart(84)-Brown(84)
McGinn(79)-Smith(83)-Stone(79)
4th line: high 70s, UFAs and great defensive ratings

Murray(90)-Karlsson(88)
Bystrom(84)-Ceci(83)
Cowen(82)-UFA(83, forget name)

Gibson(85)
Lehner(76)

Ottawa Senators 2014-15 Season Summary

The Sens improved upon last year's 91 points by putting up 96 points in the 2014-15 NHL regular season. They had a record of 44-30-8, good for seventh in the East. The team's success was mostly thanks to rookie defender Cody Ceci, who became the first rookie to win the James Norris Trophy. He had 12 goals and 45 assists and was a +11. He also finished second in voting for the Calder Trophy, but lost to Antti Roppo for rookie of the year. When they had to face the defending Stanley Cup Champions, Philadelphia, in round one of the playoffs, everyone thought the Sens were done for. However, they came out on top in six games.

In round two, the Sens were put up against the #1 team in the East, division rival Buffalo. Buffalo was too strong of a team for Ottawa, as they defeated the Sens in five games.

Down in the AHL, the Binghamton Senators had the best record in the regular season. (53-14-9) Their new top line was outstanding: Mika Zibanejad had 34 goals and 52 assists for 86 points in 76 games, Hunter Shinkaruk had 32 goals and 70 assists for 102 points, and Matt Puempel had 58 goals and 46 assists for 104 points. The trio led Binghamton all the way to the conference finals, where they lost in six games to the Springfield Falcons.

I'll post player progression and offseason moves in a little bit...

My 2017-18 season was terrible, missed the playoff by 1 point, even traded for Zettenberg(87) and still didn't help. At the draft I got a goalie named Lacasse(73 4 stars) with the 11th pick cause Gibson(85) just isn't playing good for me. Now for the stupidest AI GM move yet, the Canadians didn't sign their 2 overall pick from 3 years back, an 88 goalie. So I offered him the max salary for a 2 way deal and he accepted. Let go some players and sign a few, now my lineup looks like this heading into the 2018-19 season:

Koristen(85)-Mackinnon(87)-Voracek(88)
Puempel(82)-Statsny(84)-Reinhart(83)
Paajarvi(81)-Smith(83)-Stone(79)
Theoret(74)-McGinn(78)-McCrae(73)--> all 5 star def(PK)

Murray(90)-Karlsson(88)
Bystrom(85)-Ceci(83)
Hjalmarsson(84)-Arnio(74)

Chupp(88)
Gibson(85)

If I don't make it far with this team, EA's sim engine is ****ed and I will rage quit BeAGM forever :/

Puempel is only an 82 in 2018? Wow. For me he is already 81 overall in 2015. I hope he hits at least 84 overall.

Yeah it took him forever to progress, and I have played him on the 2nd line(NHL) for 1 year, then the 2nd line(AHL) for 2 years, then 1st line(AHL) for 3 years.

Smith (88)- Sullivan (83)
Siemens (85)- Ristolainen (83)
Tinordi (79)- Grossman (79)
Kindl (77)

Price (90)
Mrazek (79)

Brought up Sullivan, Tinordi, Mrazek full time this year. Signed Tyrell, Burrows, Ott, Grossman, and Kindl this off season. Then traded OEL (who dropped to a 83 because of injuries) for Thorton. The rest were either trades earlier in my dynasty or free agent signings earlier.

Some notes after 8 games played

Mrazek 4gp 3-1-0 0.98 GAA .957SV%
Abdelkader 3g 3a 6p on the 4th line (I played one game with him getting only 8minutes of ice time and scored 1 goal and assisted on two others, we won 3-1)
I also have Ryan Kujawinski (80), Teemu Pulkkinen (77), Jared Knight (77), Tomas Jurco (76) all ready for the NHL in offense categories except jurco. I may trade a bottom 6er or two and bring Kujawinski up and Pulkkinen and Knight. I plan on giving Mrazek about 25 games as long he does well.

Having lost three games in a row and thinking that maybe my team is too soft. So I have thought about trading for Chris Stewart. I may move Eric Wellwood to him, so I ask, should I make the move? How good does Stewart come? Or will Wellwood be even better than Stewart? Or should I trade Charlie Coyle for him?

Also have thought Martin Havlat and Thomas Vanek as options if I don't trade for Stewart.

My lines as for now:

Kovalchuk - Zajac - Stepan
Penner - Peverley - Henrique
Elias - Josefson - Zubrus
Wellwood - Carter - Zharkov

Ps. How good Janne Juvonen will be in a long run?

Who are good young players to target in this game? Just started a new BAGM connected and given the slower pace as compared to offline, I'm not looking for prospects, just young players who hit 85+ after a year or so.

Give me an idea on young guys who become elite early on and what kind of ratings I can expect to see after a year (and long term).

Some guys I've looked at:

Hall - 84, turns into an 85/86 after a year usually and tops off anywhere between 87-89
Eberle - same as Hall
Tavares - traded for him, how does he turn out?
Ryan - see Tavares
Bogosian - traded for him, I know after a few years he's a stud but not sure about short term

Toss me out some names... and also a list of some guys, if anyone knows what they turn out to after a year or so, lmk?

Kulikov
Jack Johnson
Evander Kane
Blake Wheeler
John Carlson
Pavelski
Simmonds
Voracek
Zajac
Grabner
Okposo
Benn
Seguin
Landeskog

Anyone I'm missing?

I'd add Logan Couture to that list. He got to an 88 after a year I think. Jake Gardiner turns out nicely, too.
