Should the rain be bad tomorrow morning? I'm trying to go to open hockey early tomorrow and hope that Floyd hall isn't closed.
Montclair State is closed (or at least not having classes) the next 2 days. In my 4 years there, that almost never happened, even in some of the most ridiculous weather. Go through whatever efforts necessary to find out if they're open before you leave the house. There's a decent chance they may be shut down if the school is.
Basically every school is closed, which is shocking.
Kean, Seaton Hall, Rutgers, MSU...
Also, all mass transportation from DC to NY is closed. MTA, NJT, PATH, SEPTA, DC Metro, Amtrak... Scary stuff when they ALL close...

I got an e-mail from a spa I went to 2 years ago reminding customers that all their appointments will have to reschedule.

Once the streets flood there will be a lot of calls and almost nothing that can be done. Coastal towns in CT are evacuating for that reason, because emergency workers won't be able to get through later.

Ya, every school district is closed tomorrow here too. The CT Transit buses and Amtrak aren't running, and many towns have their winter parking bans in effect. They're all taking this very seriously.
My gym (which is normally 24 hours) sent out emails earlier today that they'll be open until 1 PM tomorrow. Not intending to go that early, unless I wake up much earlier than expected, but I like the potential tone that sets in case I want to get a coffee, or something simple like that tomorrow morning at least.

Went to the supermarket twice trying to stock up on stuff... five flashlights, chips, cookies, peanut butter/jelly, two cases of bottled water, carton of non refrigerated soy milk, cereals, and a few other things.... kept blanking when I was trying to think of what kinds of foods to stock up on.
We live on the second floor of an apartment building in Carteret. We are right down the street from the waterway between here and Staten Island which is narrow. Three neighborhoods of Carteret have been evacuated already.. not ours though. I'm going to go to my office in Woodbridge in the morning and grab some files and some work and bring it home and then prepare not to be able to leave for a few days. Hope the car is okay... ugh nervous..
He's very good friends with the owner of the Shore House in Point, who closed up shop about 30 minutes ago until at least Wednesday by order of the town - no booze sales for 3 days.

unbelievable, I'm surprised he even got out of the inlet without issue with those currents swirling in a hundred different directions when you first come out
There are some pics on that link I posted of Pt Pleasant and some water had already come up over that board/cement walk that runs parallel along the inlet there

They're getting readings of 13 foot waves already at the 15 mile buoy outside NY harbor. Ponder that.
