I could of come back to NJ but I feel safer where I am in NYC. Less trees but idk about the electricity though. Classes at my school in downtown Manhattan are cancelled tomorrow but won't decide until 12pm tomorrow for Tuesday. If I can't take the subway I ain't trying since I start with the N,Q,R lines which always have problems.

I really didn't start to take this storm seriously until about a few hours ago. Jesus.

Well, from what it looks like, it's gonna be a pretty modest storm. However, for this area, which isn't exactly hurricane proof or hurricane ready per se, it could be pretty bad. I live a good 30 feet up from water, so I should be fine.

Other people, specifically shore towns, may not be so lucky. It's upgraded to a Category 2 Hurricane as well, and it looks as if NJ will be getting hit head on, so it doesn't look good. The only thing that's good for me is no school Monday or Tuesday.

Stay safe all! Hoping my coworkers in our Upper Saddle River office are safe. Boston is going to get nasty winds which is bad enough. Thoughts are with you all!!

Called Expedia to try to change my flight on Tuesday. Waiting time until next available agent was..."between 27 hours, 37 minutes and 40 hours, 11 minutes".

lol. I was going to ask if Saugus was an extreme couponer.
Yeesh, those are high waves. The weatherman on the nightly news here is talking about "historic flooding" along the coast in an unsettlingly gleeful tone voice. That's a little worrisome.

No, I'm not an extreme couponer, but I know when to buy in bulk. Maybe stockpile is the wrong word, maybe it's more of a cache.

And we'll have to shorten our bench too. We can't put Tedenby out there or else he'll be blown away.

Guess we can say the same for Gio too huh? Though we might be able to use him cause he's got some extra weight with the nose!

I'm in Middlesex and it hasn't even started raining. But I don't have school for the next two days so I guess it's all good.

Anyone that works in the city tomorrow still have work? I can't imagine companies having people come in, especially since the markets are going to be closed now.

So I've only ever flown once in my life....flying by myself for the first time Thursday...how do airports usually recover from these things ?

Scheduled to fly out from Newark Thursday morning at 6:21 to Atlanta

Thursday morning I am positive you will make it. Mine is Tuesday afternoon, now THAT will probably be canceled. I tried to change my ticket but the airlines are basically just blocking callers out.

My office doesn't like to close for anything and my boss called me at noon to cancel work since there'd be no transportation whatsoever. Basically indicated that he'd try and make us go in if there were any forms of mass transit still running

Poorly. Very poorly. Expect a poorly contained sideshow.
Basically a week's worth of cancellations and everyone's going to want those first flights out/in.

Get there early. Pay attention because your gate will be moved. Several times.
Expect several delays as most airports started flying planes out inland instead of keeping them grounded.
And expect to sit on the runway for at least an hour as everyone tries to figure out the traffic situation.

Not to get you into panic mode, but most airports can barely handle the fallout from rain delays.
At the very least, you can prepare for the worst.

Not to mention I'd assume you're flyin into hartsfield Jackson, which is a sideshow unto itself being the world's busiest airport. You will have hell thursday

Yeah. Don't sweat it. Bring a book and just relax, you'll get where you want to get when you get there.
