LB was going off today. So great. That city is in for a rough go though. If people thought Irene was bad, just wait until tomorrow and Tuesday. I really hope not, but it's not looking good. Police already closed Loop Parkway heading south.

Stay safe.

Calm before the storm (At least where i am in Merrick). Winds have definitely picked up the last few hours though, gusts probably around 20 mph right now. Little to no rain, a few sprinkles a few hours ago. Bracing for what should be a wild next 48 hours or so.

I'm on the water over in East Rockaway not really raining but like NYI365 said winds been gusting for a while now but nothing serious. Bad sign was areas around here that flood got some water around 9ish when high tide came in and the storm isn't even here yet.. They've had police and fire officials driving around all evening playing a recording on the speakers saying mandatory evacuation from Ed Mangano for all areas south of Sunrise Hiway and had multiple pre-recorded phone calls saying the same thing... Gonna ride it out and hope for the best survived mostly unscathed from Irene so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

We aren't going to have hurricane force winds here on Long Island. Maybe a gust or two, but the storm is tracking further South. The surge will be the worst part, but I think when the sun rises tomorrow we'll all be OK. Pray we keep power.

Saw a report that over 34,000 on Long Island already without power. 2,000 more than New Jersey and they are getting hit harder than us. There is a LIPA joke in there somewhere.

Close to 100,000 people without power on Long Island now....my lights have gone off for 30 seconds twice, but then came back. I'm praying to keep the power.

we need specifics. Go count the rings.

Reports from home: shingles coming off, roof leakage, the crane that broke on 57th, it's crazy out there. Good luck, everyone.
