You still need people to book the trades.

That's early enough, it might even be too early.
The fun begins once you get past security, though.
There are some people that will get lucky, just be prepared for a long day.

Depending upon conditions on Wednesday, you might be wading through crowds of people who have been stuck there for a while (I assume EWR?)

So beyond the initial delays, the biggest obstacle you may face is your airline trying to bump you to a later flight to accommodate some of those who have been stranded (and subsequent connections that need to be re-routed). In which case, you'll be cursing every one and everything around you for getting up and getting to the airport that early.

It's unfortunately very unpredictable with the way this storm is going.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you... because every minute that something gets delayed, it becomes a chain reaction of other problems.

I spend too much of my working life on short commuter flights, I'm a natural cynic with this.

I have traveled constantly for like 25 years now, I have endless horror stories. I was going to China out of Washington. We tax out, and wait for plane to be defrosted. We wait...for 8 hours. Waiting in an airport for 8 hours is bad, try sitting on an airplane (I was so ****ing lucky to be in business that time though, but still, no air flowing because engines are off). After 8 hours they say crew can not continue so we have to tax back, during this time a snow storm has taken over D.C. so all roads from the airports are closed. We all had to sleep on the floor at the airport, and I missed my concert in China. It was glorious.

Oh god, that's awful. How crowded was it? Longest I've been stuck on the runway was 2 1/2 hours, pretty packed flight.. and after the 1st hour, I could tell you exactly who was or wasn't wearing deodorant, what brand if they were and what everyone's last meal was. Terrible.

My worst experience so far was a simple commuter flight from Minny-St Paul to Newark.
Got rerouted once because of Tornadoes. A second time because of lightning. A third time because of heavy tail winds. And then delayed because of rain in Newark.

Simple flight that took me 36 hours and around the perimeter of most of the US.

It was packed, and 8 hours...it was pretty unreal. But, I was in business so I was at least OK.

Another one was with Air France, landing at JFK and it was really windy. They tried to land the plane twice but somehow they went back up in air just before we hit the landing plate...freaking twice. We were going round like a carousel. It was so awful because people were getting sick left and right, I think some 80% of folks were using the paper bags. Felt like the longest time ever. Can't remember if I puked or not, I remember I was ready with the bag though, all sweaty and sick as hell.

I had something similar happen to me in Edmonton last year.
The wind was coming in with the flight and the gusts were coming up under the plane.
We did some weird bounces when we finally landed. Was a pretty empty flight, so I'm not sure about many people getting sick... but it felt like it took everyone a full minute to be able to get up out of their seats.

I only do long distance international flights about once a year, and thankfully (now that I'm jinxing it) haven't had too many problems. Because when things go awry with those flight... all goes to hell. As you've already begun to describe

I do a lot of small commuter flights around the US and Canada... and I can basically write up a laundry list of small annoyances that will occur to impede my travels, because the problems are more guaranteed than the actual flights.
I get uncomfortable when things actually go right on those trips.

Or his owner gave him a "*wink**wink**shake**shake*" deal with the lock out insurance signing bonus. Which could mean both Parise and his new owner knew what was going on the whole time. Apparently Suter had no clue, based on his comments.

But this thread is about nothing...AKA hurricane Sandy atm.

Figures NB cops let me through the road blocks to get to work (local shutdown). And there is already one of those cheap trees in my delevopment down. Our 3 cars took up the reserve spot and two spots next two it forcing people across the street from the spots to use their driveway. So their tree branch broke off this time and is now laying on both theirs cars. Why they were using someone elses driveway is beyond me (still don't get why people don't use their garage).

my town has a mandatory evacuation at noon today. i don't see any point in leaving, personally. high tide this morning wasn't at the boardwalk yet, and they're saying it'll get maybe 2 feet higher for this evening's high? meh.

I'm gonna seal up the camera and go out for some photos in a bit. I'll post them here when I get back

That, and he was so embarrassed by his playoff beard that he went where he knew he wouldn't have to grow one for a couple of years.

zing.

The rain actually stopped here. Still kind of windy. Some dumbasses out there walking their dogs. I have no idea why anyone who lives in a highrise would have a dog.

NBC is saying 5-6pm for the beginning of hurricane force winds.
