Temple is closed for Monday and Tuesday and they almost never close.
I think the Philadelphia school district will probably end up closing as well.
I still don't think it will be that bad
Good thing too cause I was not ready for my physics test, lol.
Not bad where i'm at right now, Upper Southampton, and luckily i live up on a hill so i don't have to worry much about flooding. My backyard does fill up now and again. I'll post some pics if anything crazy happens.
I'm back in the woods of chester county. I had a whole home 17kw generator put in after irene. Runs off my 500gal house propane tank, automatic transfer switch. I'm good, for at least 11 or so days anyway. Expensive? yes, But totally worth it.

we were considering doing something like that just cause the power goes out so often around here for what seems to be no reason at times. if it's not too much to ask, could you pm me with some details like brands and pricing? i would greatly appreciate any info you could give me on the subject. thanks in advance
I wanted to suspend my all-hockey-stuff boycott long enough to wish safety on all of you in this storm's path. Hopefully, it's a lot more hyped than what it will actually turn out to be, though the early images are pretty scary.
If you need shelter, come on up to Montreal. Apart from some wind and rain, there's not supposed to be much effect at all. And there's lots of room at the Bell Centre, because we all know it's not being used for anything else these days.
The news about the HMS Bounty was sad, particularly with the apparent loss of 2 on board. Sorry if this seems heartless, but it's ironic that the 2 missing are the captain and a crew member with the family name Christian. I saw the Bounty with other tall ships this past summer in Halifax.

where in the backwoods do you live? I am coming to your house when i lose power
I actually interned with a company pepco bought it back in the day, should have stayed there instead of doing private roadway design work, but i digress. The problem with this storm is you can't take crews from other parts of the mid atlantic due to the size of the storm. It really wouldn't surprise me if it took people over a week to get back if they are in remote areas. They don't really get people back on by when they went out, they try to get as many people back as they can. The winter storm a few years back at the NJ shore was the worst I ever saw, literally almost every pole in wildwood snapped in half from the ice.
I already sent out my emergency invitation lottery cards out for this storm, sorry. Pregnant women and infants are first in line.
Hard to say. Some of 9 is close to water, some of it is decently far. If you've got water nearby I'd consider evacuating; if not, meh. Look at a map, I guess.
Then again, who knows. Potential historic storm = all bets off.
Didn't evacuate...wish I did. Tree down in front yard and back. Only a matter of time before one hits my car or house. Ugh.
Yeah, this storm is even worse than I thought. Georgetown in DC is very likely going to be hit with 10 feet of flooding by weds. So if any of you guys are there, you should consider being not there.
