johansson was a player that fell to the caps in the draft. like forsberg. who know johansson was nearly a 50 pt player in a very defensive system all ready. he plays
top 6 at full strenth and 4 on 4. he plays pp and pk. he plays wing and center.
this we know.

you would trade that for a 12th pick in the draft? seriously?

oh....the caps defense is already young enough. alzner and carlson and orlov are enough baby defensemen for a good while to come.

Why would we trade Johansson?

Yes lets trade a young promising player who has made it to the NHL for a draft pick which has a decent chance to be a bust or not turn out as well as Johansson. If you asked every GM in the league if they could have Johansson or the 13th pick in the draft they would pick Johansson. HF mentality at its finest, high draft picks worth more than young players that have actually proven themselves.

I say no. The reasons have already been stated but this draft this looks amazing, even though Johansson is pretty good.

Barring Alzner-Green/Orlov-Carlson, there's practically no way a long term 2LD solution is gonna come from anywhere but the draft.

Yeah, Johansson was #90something in some rankings (Red Line Report and some other IIRC).
The fact that he plays top-6 and in all those situations shows our forward group needs a BIG improvement. Forsberg and Kuznetsov is that improvement.

Why would the caps trade him at this point?
Are Wilson/Forsberg/Kutz ready and proven at this point?

Timing seems risky.

Wouldn't it make more sense to trade Mojo, once they've
actually made the lineup and pushed him down the depth chart?

i see that youve decided he's a fail and needs to go, eh? forsberg and kuznetsov, btw, are still so much promise in a world of broken promises.

I really hate to say I wouldn't do this deal if we end up in the top 15 in this years draft. I been researching the prospects and they look great. I been watching a lot of Capitals games last season and think Johansson would be great on the Ducks. I think we can trade prospects though.

DSP for Johansson straight up?

I love DSP and what he brings to our lineup. I just feel as though Johansson will bring the same and give us more of a overall player.

DSP would not bring back Johansson.

You're right, he won't. I don't think any of your prospects (except for maybe Etem) would.

Etem isn't the best wing prospect in our system. Your scouts would kill any chance of that swap from happening.

There's no way Caps move Johansson for Etem. We've already got more than enough winger prospects.

I would move the 13th overall pick plus another semi-decent piece for Johansson to come to the Devils. I like the amount of elite talent at the draft, but I think Johansson would suit NJ's game really well and I would rather have him than someone like Max Domi (notice who is in my avatar...)
