Binnington continues to impress saving 36 of 38 shots in 5-2 win tonight. Over this weekend he stopped 104 of 109 shots against. His overall sv% has now increased to over 94%.

One thing I have noticed is the Blues have a lot of big, tough prospects in their system. You look at Peluso, Beach, Ponich, Walters, Edmundson, Veilleux, etc. Cool to see since they will likely maintain the identity of the Blues always being a physical team. Our 2012 draft class certainly will help with that too.

I'm quite excited about our prospect pool. We may not have big names once Tarasenko and Schwartz make the jump to the NHL but it seems like a lot of our picks are doing pretty well and could have a future.

No problem. With this lockout I'll admit I've become a bit of a prospect nerd.

Appreciate it very much! You're not too big of a nerd....You left off the Euros... Really thanks.

Intrigued by Max Gardiner's good start. He has good size. He may be our late blooming sleeper. I saw where some of our college guys and MacEachern sat out a game. Were they healthy scratches? I'm a bit curious whether some of the freshmen are getting a regular shift or not. Tardy really hasn't done a thing the last few years.

Jaškin had 2 assists, so both players had a 3 point game.

Kurker is in tonight...so I'm guessing he was healthy scratch. I can't imagine MacEachern being a scratch, but I'll let you know if I find anything out. Tesink is also back. Definitely agree about Gardiner. He should be a fun prospect to follow and I fully expect him to move up the rankings. BTW good idea about including euros. I'll try to include them in the next stats report.

Rattie with a goal & a couple of assists tonight. Really picked it up after that slow start (0G & 1A in his first 5G, 10G & 11A in the next 9).

Parayko a goal last night, Tesink with a goal and an assist. Jaskin has been a stud to date. He is on pace for a 45-50 goals and is among his team leaders in hits. He has to have vaulted McRae
As the Blues 4th best forward prospect behind Rattie. Looks like Kurker is battling for playing time. Don't no how much ice time he is getting when he does dress. Rattie is back to being his scoring self after his slow start. Looks like he will have his best +- of his junior career this season.

Kurker didn't get much playing time at all in the yesterday's game, and was pretty unnoticeable when he was on the ice. I'm not too concerned yet though as he is on one of the better teams in the league and it usually does take freshmen a little while to adjust. However most of our other NCAA rookies seem to be a little bit ahead of the curve. Schmaltz in particular has looked real good in the games I've watched. A few more notes to add...Jordan Binnington along with Malcolm Subban have been named to Team OHL for the Subway Super Series tourny which takes place late next week. Binnington was also named the Vaughn OHL Goalie of the Month. Below is an interesting article on Ryan Tesink and his hopes to someday play in St.Louis.

Tesink is pretty intriguing to me. I don't really know what kind of role he could play in the NHL. He's on the small side right now, but if he added some muscle, I think he could be kind of a Vladimir Sobotka type player. Little bit more skill than your average 4th liner, but not really enough to consistently be in the top 9 of a contending team. He's playing well this year though. I think he'll get a contract.

Offensive woes are threatening to sink the AHL ship of the Peoria Rivermen in the early going. Elsewhere in the organization, offense has not been a problem for the Blues' top junior prospects, and rookies Karpowich and Beach got firsts in ECHL play.

Check it out for all this, plus the weekly Three Star selections from the Blues' deep and talented prospect stable.

How on earth could someone expect the Blues to pay for Petro, Dags, Sobotka, and Reaves to play in the AHL? The franchise is in pretty horrible financial shape as it is and is looking to cut costs, not add them.

Lol thought the same thing. Tarasenko playing in Russia was the right decision also. The KHL is a MUCH more competitive league than the AHL. Also, the argument about Nugent-Hopkins and Hall playing in the A is pretty weak. They are both from North America, and are comfortable with the environment. It keeps Tarasenko happy, and he's playing with one of the best players in the world on the same line. The team has the players to be successful, they just aren't playing well. Schwartz, McRae, Hensick, Nesbit and others have enough talent to be successful. They will get their act together.

My original post was kind of mean, so I'll just summarize the points:
  • Trying to force Tarasenko to play in Peoria would endanger his relationship with the Blues, for only the *possible* benefit of a few wins for our farm team. I don't think it's worth it, do you?
  • You are correct that Tarasenko is not waiver eligible
  • D'Agostini, Sobotka, Pietrangelo, and Shattenkirk are all waiver eligible due to their ages and the number of NHL games they've played.
  • You can't "withdraw" a player from waivers after he's been claimed. He's gone.
  • Other teams are able to assign players to their AHL affiliates because those players haven't played enough NHL games to be rendered waiver eligible. Examples: RNH, Taylor Hall, Nick Leddy

With the quality analysis you once again show here Prussian it is a crying shame you do not post here as often as you used to.
