Ottawa native Brad Fritsch will be sporting the logo of his favourite NHL team next season on the PGA Tour.

The Ottawa Senators announced a promotional partnership with Fritsch on Monday, a day after the local golfer locked up a spot on the PGA Tour.

Nothing wrong with it but It just seems pointless when you can't actually watch a game right now.

So because the NHL isn't currently playing, a golfer shouldn't get a sponsorship? How does that make any sense?

What's the first thing that comes to mind when you associate hockey and golfing?

*Ding* *Ding* *Ding* Give the man a cupie doll!

Of course there is the additional level of the Senators paying a golfer when they are currently refusing to pay their own hockey players which then circles back to the first implication of sponsoring a golfer...

So, because, the Senators are in a labor dispute with one group of people who work for them, they shouldn't carry on any other business?

Legally, one cannot wear trademarks "commercially" without an agreement (licensing).

Should Weir want to start wearing a NHL (or MLB or NFL or NBA) logo'd shirt/hat/etc, he too would need to have an agreement.

How is this that different than the deals that athletes have to wear Nike or other clothing company items?

The players with too high of insurance to play hockey should start a golf tournament. That should make things more interesting.
