What is booth doing other than hunting? Its kind of troubling that a top 6 forward isn't training. But maybe he is and we don't know about it, which I sure hope is the case.

He can still be training, but what's the rush? He's got at least a month+ assuming both sides bridge the gap, and training hardcore one week and going hunting the next is better then no training.

I like Weise. Big improvement on the other fourth line plugs we've had.

I'm a little concerned that if there is a season (talk of 60 games), the Canucks will not be game ready. Working out and having light practices at UBC is hardly the same as playing regular competitive games. Most of Edmonton's best players are playing regularly in the AHL (Oakland). Same with some of the other teams. That is game ready.

The Canucks may be setting themselves up for a sluggish and perhaps, injury filled season.

Or u can get injured like Markov and Nash. There aren't any top line Canucks eligible for the AHL without having to clear waivers.

It can work in their favor as well. All the players that have gone overseas have been traveling from place to place and could be worn out. Lets not forget the long flight home they have, and then they have to jump right into the NHL again. NHL teams that have gone to Europe and then come back to NA have showed signs of fatigue from travel, time change and all that jazz. Not to forget that players could already be banged up from playing, and for some, already injured while the Canucks are healhty as can be, or are quickly getting healthier.

Besides, the Canucks always have a terrible October and in this case, it would be whatever month the season would start in anyways.

I agree. Weise definitely has a lot of potential, he's scored some beauties last year and is a team player.

Except of course Lapierre (who's our only 4th liner that can play on the 3rd line for a period of time without looking awful).

I'd totally use that status to meet ladies, but I'm pretty confident I could easily manage without the twitter flaming.

In any case, I don't like Weise but he's a fine bottom six player.

Personally if i was a professional athlete who had lived, eaten and breathed a sport for my entire life, as much as i'm sure i'd love it, a year off would be awesome. I'd be mad travelling. or something. idk what.

Jannik Hansen -> Tappara Tampere

http://tappara.fi/liiga/uutiset/238/7361.html

He gets to play in Finland with his Dane lockout friends Lars Eller, Frans Nielsen, Mikkel Bodker and Philip Larsen.

Keep in mind that Canucks are one of the most banged up teams in the NHL over the past 2 season. Sedins get abused an insane amount every season. Wouldn't surprise me if all of these guys are benefitting more from the time off than they would from playing right now.

Agreed. Hopefully a lighter travel and game schedule will leave us fresher when it actually matters.

More details on Hansen's signing in Finland:

http://www.theprovince.com/sports/ho...405/story.html

Looks like he is also planning to join Denmark for their Olympic qualifier in the new year. Nicklas Jensen was one of the players named to that group last week, if I'm not mistaken, but they seemed to be leaving most of their NHL players off of it.

Did anyone mention Weise's numbers so far this year with his euro team.

4 goals and 9 assists for 13 pts in 8 games

Going to have to watch some more of Tappara's games now. Hopefully we see a line of Nieminen - Barkov - Hansen.
