Yeah that is some reverse logic there. On the flip side Kucherov was held out of the roster yesterday for Sorensen. I think they are going to rotate until a trade is made.. Ughhh I feel that Kucherov should have stayed in Russia this year.

I agree, but I can sort of understand Kucherov. Look at CSKA now, little time for youngsters.
Probably would be better if he played in VHL though...
Russia will not win next WJC 'cause a team, who was announced for SSS, has not a leader. Yakupov isn't a leader. He is a too dependent player who needs a very good playmaker. He needs that all of his linemates plays for him and adjusting to him. On junior level, to force a 20 people plays adjusting to 1....It's a very-very difficulty. From the others, no one could be a really franchise player cause they have not enough talent and experience for that.
I suggest you get your infos straight. The SSS roster is NEVER the WJC roster. There is much tryouts on both sides.
Yakupov IS a leader. That is actually his 'problem' when he will start playing on the 1st NT. Exactly like Kuznetsov he's a scorer and a leader who will have a tough time shoving his ego up his ... when playing alongside the likes of Datsyuk. That was Kuznetsov's failure during the WC 2012.
And you are watching the games from the wrong universe. Yakupov is a pretty complete offensive player. He's has the vison and makes plays for others. If you watched the WJC 2011-2012 which I doubt reading your post you should remember Yakupov being the playmaker for Kuznetsov all tournament long.
adult and junior level - two different stories. In Edmonton Yakupov won't can play as brilliance as in Sarnia. Grigorenko....are you kidding? I don't ever seen slower skater than this guy. He doesn't fit to Yakupov. On WJC-18 in 2011, Grigorenko more interacted with Kucherov than Nail. Sigarev is level a lot lower. For Neftekhimik, Yakupov scored lucky goals, excepting last two. He was supported a scoring flair to be on right point in right time. Many of his goals were scored after rebounds. Anyway, i think he won't can take over the burden of leadership.

Remember these words: scoring 'lucky' goals is what separates a natural born scoring machine from a guy with a good shot. It's vision, it's hockey IQ, it's just being at the right place at the right time. AND with NH Yakupov doesn't have linemates skilled enough to convert on his playmaking like Kuznetsov did during the last WJC.
I would say last year's team was a bit deeper offensively, when you had guys like Yakupov playing on the 3rd line at times. And if you look at that roster of Kuzya, Grigs, Kucherov, Gusev, Yakupov, Telegin, Kosov- it's like pick your poison... and where would you put Namestnikov and Galiev had they been healthy... ?

Grigorenko was very young last year. Kucherov and Kosov also quite young. Yakupov underage.
Of course, the defense wasn't anywhere near as good. And the goalies were both underage.

I did not know Makarov was still eligible, I take he and Vasilevsky are expected to return.
Russia will be strong in nets. Perhaps the strongest since Varlamov ?

You can go to prospects section of the board- I broke it down to the latest practice lines that they had. Gives a good a idea of what's coming for WJC.
Also- all of the questions you asked are like within the last two pages, it is kind of lazy of you.
After game 2 some of my observations:
Shenfeild: Absolutely useless at this level, too soft, not enough skill, keep him home
Kapustin: Also not good enough for this level, has done nothing on the top line but make too many mistakes.
Nesterov: Wow was he bad. He got beat on the same pinch play 3 times, coughed up the puck a number of times and got beat several other times, ouch.
Kokhlachev: Has been a ghost, him and Yakupov looked terrible together, the line needs to be broken up, Koko should have been sent to the VHL to regain his scoring confidence.
Yakupov: Did not look good in game 2, too many try to do it yourself plays.. He didn't utilize his teamates well at all, that may be because the line has horrible chemistry all together... I fear that Yak is no Kuznetsov, who was able to pull out a great play out of nowhere to put his team back in the game. From what I seen of Yakupov when the going gets tough he struggles a bit. I hope he proves what I say wrong.
Dyakov: Biggest surprise for me, very strong back there, physical, limited errors, good offensive touch.
Tkachev: Looks like he will make a useful role player, showed terrific skill on his goal.
Shalunov: Has shown well in the summer and now, a very creative player.
Nicushkin: Didn't think he would be physically mature enough to play at this level, but he definitely is, was barrowling through checks.
Kucherov: He is badly needed, at least on the powerplay. Get him and Grigo together, maybe Grigo will wake up.
Slepyshev: Need him too.
Shenfield played a lot of pk, someone got to do it, offensively he can not play with the speed of small rinks, don't forget the WJC will be on our-sized rink, he will have more time. Nesterov at times looked good, but defensively awful and he can't be on the same pair with Yarullin that's accident waiting to happen, Nesterov was directly responsible for 2 goals on us in game 2. Nichushkin was trhowing checks but couldn't do anything with the puck, too nervous.
Zhafyarov was hyped up and awful last night as well, I attribute it to nerves as well. Correct me if I am wrong, but he didn't
have to much international exposure.
Vasilevskiy is also pretty bad (the older one)

I would rather anyone else, he didn't show enough to be on the roster IMO, when you look at the depth this year, there are 3 or 4 guys that could make themselves more useful to the team than him. What blows my mind is how a guy like this would be considered over a guy like Kucherov.

That might have been his first NA game, he showed good hustle and speed, but nothing offensive. I see him used on the PK, Im hoping by the end of the series he shows a better game.
