I reject that anyone can have a 2nd team.

I haven't been to a game in a while but not having to go into the city from Long Island was pretty nice. Nassau Coliseum wasn't nice, but it was totally fine really. They didn't need a new arena; they just need not to be such a ****** team.

And my closest NHL team... Oh, nevermind.
CSKA Moscow is my closest KHL team and I've never been to their games. Unlike Dynamo games.

You know what I'm going to miss about Nassau? The ability to get on the glass tickets to Caps road games for less than $50.

OT: Boudreau on the Caps

“I think human nature dictates that I didn’t want them to win,” Boudreau said. “I think that’s just human nature. I was hoping for some players to have success and players I really like to do well and they did, but quite frankly nobody ever admits it — and maybe I just did — but I wasn’t exactly pulling for them because it would have validated me losing my job.”

It wouldn't be a NBC sports article about the Caps without someone in the comments saying Ovechkin should be traded and is a bad captain.

Yeah we can only hope that once the NHL does return Ovechkin just keeps on keeping on proving them wrong...

I have a feeling if NHL cancels WC then it will almost certainly mean that whole season is cancelled. Sadly i think Fehr then rallies its troops next summer and tries something incredibly stupid like getting rid of the cap which results losing majority of next years games. And worst case scenario, some franchises moving / contracted.

I'd be fine with contraction, but it will never happen.

I'd like to see Phoenix relocate to Seattle (Metropolitans or Totems) and Florida to Quebec (Nordiques) first.

I'm confident the Islanders will do well in Brooklyn.

Pretty sure the Panthers actually do well via their arena deal (the team itself may not be all that hot financially, but the extras make it worthwhile). Doubt they're at the top of the relocation list.

I'd like to see about 4-5 teams dispersed because the quality of the league would be better. The NHL regular season has become a snooze compared to 1980's. There are lots of reasons for it, contraction would only on solve part of it.

But yeah, unlikely.

In fantasy land I'd take it down to 20 teams. Even the Caps might get axed since they're not exactly perennial contenders.

Teams to keep:

1st Tier

Rangers
Bruins
Flyers
Leafs
Habs
Wings
Hawks
Sharks
Canucks
Avs
Sens

2nd Tier

Wild
Oilers
Flames
New Quebec team
Kings, I guess
Blues
Stars
Caps
Sabres

3rd Tier gets axed

Preds
Bolts
Panthers
Jackets
Yotes
Ducks
Canes
Jets
Isles
Pens!
