Iginla is now 35. He was one of the best players in the NHL but now, he is barely a first liner. I am sure Washington would want Iggy on Ovie and Backstrom's wing but for Forsberg, Orlov, Laich and a 1st?
Forsberg was supposed to be a top 5 pick all year.
Orlov is the best of Washington's defensive prospects.
Laich is a leader and great 2-way player.
A first round pick in this years draft will definetely get you a great prospect.
I say WAY TOO MUCH!
Maybe Galiev, Laich and a 2nd round pick with a conditionel 3rd if Iginla signs. I may be giving a bit too little but I know Forsberg, Orlov and Kuznetsov are going nowhere.
he had 32 golas, 65 points last season, he played better then ovechkin so yea he is a 1st liner
This is horse ****
thats 4 1st round picks for iginla
That's the type of a return a 30 year old Iginla would get. However people are really undervaluing him. In order to get the face of Calgary outta there, It'd probably have to be something like Forsberg +1st round pick
Turn back the clock 10 years and you have a deal. Seriously...wrong move for the Caps, especially at the cost of those two young players.

So apparently Iginla is worth a hell of a lot more then either, Nash, Kovalchuk, or B.Richards at the time they were traded... OK...
Any 2 prospects (not named Forsberg, Kuznetsov or Holtby), Ward, 2014 1st(drops to a 2nd in 2013, and a conditional pick in 2014 if Wilson is the prospect) is the most I'd ever offer as a caps fan. If you don't like it, that's fine we'll pass.
And guess what, no one is going to pay extra because he has sentimental value to flames fans. In the end, Iginla(along with every other player) is a business asset first and foremost.

Woah, didn't realize you were the voice of reason.

Hence why trading for him is stupid, as the price paid would not correspond with how much he's bringing to the club acquiring him.
i think its pretty hard to say for sure what iginla might be worth at the deadline. if has has 38 goals at the deadline he will bring a lot more than if he has 18. right?
Any trade is worth it when you win the cup. Trading like that is a great way to leave your team barren. Iginla at this stage isn't the difference between the caps losing in the 2nd round and the cup, or even the 2nd round and the finals.
Hell, I'd do Galiev and 3 conditional 1sts if I'm wrong and we win the cup with him.
Forsberg and 1st in this draft would be done on the flames side i think. And I think its very reasonable price for Jarome.
No.You don't trade future 60-pt player and a 1st-rounder for a rental. You just don't. And dont compare it to Colborne. He hasn't even cracked the NHL roster yet.

If you package the cup with Iginla, yeah, I'd send you Forsberg. But trading for Iginla isn't equal to winning the cup.
Remove Forsberg and i think you have a deal from both sides. Perreault becomes the third line center, while Forsberg and Kuznetsov can become top 6 wingers by the time Iginla and Ribeiro retire. And Marcus Johansson can become the second line center. With Iginla Washington finally gets the number one RW that they needed ( Power forward that can produce 60+ points easily.) We could make a good run at the cup for the next 2 seasons at least and our future still looks pretty good.
