I find it very interesting that Koivu has so many shots when playing back in Finland. After 3 games he's averaging 5.33 SOG/game. In the NHL for his career he's averaged 2.47 and his highest shooting season he averaged 3.075.

Seto just signed in the ECHL:

Why would he sign in such an easy league?

It gets him playing and keeps him in North America I would guess. There's not very many other options around here. If you don't want to head over to Europe (and I'd imagine many North American players don't want to) and you want to keep playing, the ECHL might be the highest level league you can join. The AHL has strict limitations for NHLers playing in it, and for the most part they're full up.

Thats nice. I've always been a Korpikoski fan. He had a nice feed on the SHG. Sweet seeing them together.

The line Koivu-Korpikoski-Brian Willsie (ex-Capital/Avalanche/King) has been maybe the best line in the whole league lately.

Korpikoski is 4+5=9 in 4 games, Koivu 4+1=5 in 3 games and Willsie 10+4=14 in 16 games.

Always loved Korpikoski as well.

I think he'd fit our second line quite well.

Korpikoski - Granlund - Setoguchi

Isn't about time that Zach Parise sign on somewhere? With all the statements that he's making about the owners he must think that the league isn't going to start up anytime soon.

There really aren't that many $5MM+ North American born players signing elsewhere are there? I wouldn't expect them to in any case.

Exactly. KHL has its quotas and limitations. And for example here in Finland, it's not the salaries (players may don't even ask any salary) but insurances. Too expensive.

There really aren't such markets in Europe, even for elite players. Some SM-liiga teams take much lower profile NHLers because of cheaper insurances.

In central Europe, they've got more money.. But still don't know how lucrative it is to employ any foreign stars. Suppose that hockey there isn't such a big business anyway.

I don't think it's a surprise but Seto is actually skating much faster than most guys.

Still 0-0.
