A team probably wouldn't offer a Huberdau or Granlund like prospect but Schneider is not that type of prospect.
Plenty of goalies came into the league late and have gone on to play well into their 30s. I see no reason why he can't have a Tim Thomas-esque career.(potentially)

Tim Thomas has played more than 40 games in the NHL 6 years and has average better than .920 only 4 times. That's hardly elite for 10 years.

I don't think you understand the difference between an elite prospect/player and a good prospect/player.

It wasn't an exact comparison because Thomas came into the league a few years later. But if you don't think Thomas was elite I don't know what to say.

Thomas has been elite for stretches of his career. You said Schneider would be elite for 10 years, he will not be.

I'll bet against him being and will win every bet I take.

It's laughable to say Schneider will be elite for 10 years, it's as simple as that.

By your definition there is not a single goaltender in the league with an elite career.

Hossa can't be replaced. We need him. Schneider straight up? NO. Zibanejad? NO
You're acting like you were offered scrubs for him. I don't think Ottawa would ever trade Zibanejad, but he's a damn good piece.

I don't know...

You're getting an elite winger. Even with injuries and such, he is still a highly effective player - offensively and defensively.

On the other hand, he's 33 and isn't going to get any better. Plus, his contract.

Sadly, Hossa comes with concussion symptoms.

I don't think any team would offer what it would take to get him.

I'd give up Read and a top prospect or 1st for Hossa.

B. Schenn straight up? That's the kind of serious offer it would take to get us to consider.

No way, they would still need to add.

Read + Schenn, B is not near enough.

Change:

Laich to Johansson
Neuvirth to Holtby
Forsberg to Kuznetsov

and you might be close.

I think Schenn for Hossa is a fair deal value-wise if Chicago adds a little, but I don't think the Flyers would do that deal because they aren't contenders right now without Pronger. I think Briere for Hossa would be closer and would be beneficial in terms of filling needs for both teams. Flyers would likely add a bit.

I love Briere but I'd much rather have Hossa.

The Blackhawk winger that would be PERFECT in the Blues system...Shame it'll never happen. Say they weren't rivals and the Blues could actually spend some money...How about a monster deal?

Stewart - With Toews?
Elliott - Solid 1B option
Rattie/Jaskin - Good prospect choice
Something else, you tell me

Hossa
Goalie prospect

No way. Berglund would be a reasonable return though.

Berglund is a "reasonable return," but Hawks fans demand Johansson + Holtby + Kuznetsov from Washington?

You're out of your mind. As good as Hossa is he's not worth that. That's a future top line forward, future starter and a staple on the second line for a thirty something player with a concussion history? Not a chance.

Hawks fans are kidding themselves when they say they wouldn't trade Hossa for Schneider. A young goalie who has dominated in every league he has ever played in (including NHL) for a 33 year old on a lifetime contract where he will probably only have 2-3 more good years to justify the 5M+ cap hit? Ha.

He may not be worth it, but why should we trade him for anything but over payment?
My deal is closer to a real deal than a 3rd line forward, a backup goalie, and a prospect.
